I can barely believe it but I’ve kept up this monthly blog post thing up for almost an entire year – just one more to go before 2024 is DONE. I can’t say they’re all of excellent quality, but I can say that they exist. If you’d like to reflect on the year with me, you can read January’s here, February’s here, March’s here, April’s here, May’s here, June’s here, July’s here, August’s here, September’s here and October’s here.
So without further fannying about, here’s what I’ve been up to this month.
I quit Twitter
After many, many years (almost TWENTY, which is an unhinged amount of time) I deactivated my Twitter account for good.
You can find out why here, and if you miss me talking nonsense you can find me on BlueSky which is basically like Twitter, if Twitter banned Nazis instead of being Nazis, and no one could send you dick pics because they haven’t figured out picture messaging yet bless them.

My house sold, and I got an offer accepted on a place
Hurrah! The most expensive mistake I’ve ever made in my life is coming to an end. I can look forward to closing this particularly shitty chapter down, and I no longer have to deal with the stains on humanity that are estate agents.
Honestly, it’s hard not to roll your eyes into the back of your head when you come across descriptions like this, of a bog standard four bed on a main road.

After seeing about 20 different houses in varying states of dilapidation, I found a few I liked, and then took my kids with me to make the final decision (or at least allow them to think that. I’m not that daft). The owner promised them he’d give them £20 to buy new fish for the fish pond (IT HAS A FISH POND) so obviously that won their vote.
Just got to battle with conveyancing solicitors now. Great!
Through a combination of excellent luck, hard work and amazing family and friends, I am (if everything goes through, touch wood) going to buy a lovely house, in a nice area, and live happily ever after. Once I’ve dealt with all the actual moving shit. Ugh.
I came off antidepressants
And this time I actually feel good about it.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before, because for a blogger I am actually a surprisingly private kind of person – but back in July I was somehow given six free face to face therapy sessions on the NHS. I still don’t know why, or how I managed to hit the thresholds, but I went and – cynical as I may be – I can recommend it to anyone.

You will no doubt be absolutely SHOCKED, shocked I tell you, to learn that my therapist suggested that I may have ADHD. We filled in the forms, but she’s also got ADHD, so I doubt they’ll ever get submitted.
Anyway, I was signed off (she called me a powerhouse, which was bloody lovely) and then a few weeks later I came off the antidepressants I’ve been on and off for several years.
I’m alright!
Anyway. On an unrelated note…

My oldest turned 11
*Dies of old*.
She is now old enough to make lasagne and pour me wine.
Hard to believe that she had just turned TWO when I started writing this blog and harder still to believe I’ve managed to keep both alive!

NB this is my dog and not my oldest child.
I went out a few times
It wasn’t the insane whirlwind of the summer, but I’ve managed a good few evenings out. And yes, this is just an excuse to share pictures I took which will otherwise just take up space on my phone, because otherwise what’s even the point of getting your hair done?

My tweets of the month
Well now, this is awkward. Literally none of my links are going to work anymore as I deactivated the account. Never mind.
Now it’s time to prepare the Christmas tree
I had to move Izzy’s sofa out of the way to make space for it. She’s quite confused and not very happy about it at all.

…And crack open the advent calendar
Chocolate for breakfast, vodka for dinner. I believe that’s what they call the diet of champions.

(Ferrero Roche calendar was from Lidl, and Master of Malt sent me the Vodka calendar which was jolly decent of them. You can see their booze calendars here).
I guess I’ll catch up with you in the new year!
If you enjoyed this and you’re feeling generous, you can buy me a cup of tea or a glass of wine – or donate to my houseplant addiction fund – here.
