There comes a point in adulthood when your idea of luxury changes quite dramatically.

At the opposite end of the ‘restful home’ spectrum is the sort of chair you climb into and seriously consider never leaving again.
The FLEXISPOT Mochi recliner is described as a 1.5 seater, which is an excellent furniture category that I would like to see used more widely.
This sofa is really roomy for one person, but it’s also comfy enough for two (or one person and a big dog)
The oversized electric recliner adjusts smoothly from 118° to 150°, so you can sit relatively normally if another human being is speaking to you, then recline dramatically the second they leave.
It’s also a zero-wall loveseat, meaning it can recline without needing a huge amount of empty space behind it. That’s particularly useful if you like the idea of a giant comfortable chair but don’t happen to live in an American house with a lounge the size of an aircraft hangar.

The FLEXISPOT Luno Office Chair
The third option is technically an office chair, although calling the FLEXISPOT Luno an office chair feels slightly unfair.
It is more like somebody looked at a normal desk chair and thought, ‘But what if we made it enormous?’, which, to be clear, I fully support.
The Luno has an oversized seat width, designed so you can sit cross-legged, shift positions or generally exist without being wedged between two rigid armrests for eight hours.
Those armrests are actually one of its more unusual features. The 180° Flip Armrests can move through five different positions from 90° to 180°, and when they’re flipped down they effectively expand the seating area.
This is apparently partly designed with pets in mind; the armrests can support up to 66 lbs and provide somewhere for a cat or small-to-medium dog (ie probably not a labrador) to perch beside you while you work, presumably so they can supervise your productivity before walking directly across your keyboard.
The chair itself supports up to 400 lbs and has three tilt-lock positions at 90°, 110° and 130°, so it can go from proper desk-chair mode to considerably more relaxed.
There’s also a footrest, high-density foam with springs for support, and scratch-resistant breathable leather upholstery, which feels particularly relevant when you’re actively encouraging animals onto the furniture.
It makes sense for anyone working from home who doesn’t sit neatly in one position all day. I am forever tucking a leg underneath myself, sitting sideways or moving around, so the ability to change position without fighting the chair is genuinely appealing.

Making Home The Place You Actually Want To Be
There will still be washing. People will still tell you they want a snack while you’re there cooking dinner. Someone will inevitably need something urgently the second your bottom touches the seat.
But I am increasingly of the opinion that if you’re going to spend a significant percentage of your life at home, it is worth making the place comfortable.
A solid wood bed that makes the bedroom feel calmer. A ridiculous 1.5-seater recliner where you can disappear with a book. An oversized office chair that lets you work cross-legged while the dog supervises.
