Mother’s Day Gift Guide Part 1

Mother’s Day gift guide 2024: Present ideas for mums, part one + WIN

This Mother’s Day 2024 gift guide with gift ideas for mums was put together with the help of the brands mentioned in the post, who provided free samples to be photographed. This gift guide contains affiliate links; click here for more information.

This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 10th March 2024 which is pretty early, and doesn’t give much time for dithering. It certainly came to me as a surprise given how much work these gifts guides can be to put together and how late I left it to start. But no matter; panic motivates me, and if you’re reading this then hopefully it means I pulled it off. Boom.

I have a lot of interesting ideas in this two-part gift guide, from the old classics (smellies, chocolate, booze) to the more unusual (garage racking, anyone?) but rest assured, everything in it is stuff that made me go ‘Oooh, yes. I could do with one of those! Guess what my favourite is?

If you want more ideas, you can check out my recent blog post on Christmas gift ideas for women or my 2023 two-part Mother’s day gift guides here and here.

Mother’s Day gift guide 2024: Present ideas for Mums

Clothes, shoes & accessories gifts for mothers day 2024

Leather tote bag from Galen Leather

Galen is a family company based in Istanbul, Turkey. They make a range of handmade leather products including bags and stationery items such as pen cases and notebook covers, which they sell online via their website Galen Leather.

This ‘Crazy Horse’ large leather tote bag was my choice; it measures 40cm long by 30 tall (and 13cm wide) so it’s big enough to fit a laptop or overnight essentials in it, and and there are pockets for pens, wallet, phone etc so it makes a great shopping companion. The forest green which I chose is one of eight colours that this bag comes in and I think it’s absolutely stunning

With brass hardware and thick vegetable-tanned cow hide leather, it looks, feels (and smells) amazing. With use it will quickly soften and become more distressed for a vintage feel. I love the little accessories they sent along with it too; a keyring, a comb sheath and an Evil Eye charm to ward off jealousy. It was an absolute joy to open the package!

You can see this bag which retails for £118, and other beautiful handmade items on their website.

LOVELOX personalised gemstone locket

Jewellery is a no brainer when it comes to Mother’s Day gift ideas, and a locket is a really special gift that means that your mum can carry you (or, more likely her cherished grandchildren) with her wherever she goes.

LOVELOX London is a British jewellery brand who specialise in personalised silver, rose gold and gold lockets. You can select the photos you want inside and get your locket engraved with a short message at a small additional cost.

Wanting something a bit different, I went for a heart-shaped locked with sparkly blue Lapis Lazuli stone inlaid from their selection of gemstone lockets, which has an RRP of £80. I decided that as I already have two lockets with my kids in, I was going to opt for my baby (aka Izzy the dog) which is perfectly normal, right?!

My LOVELOX London personalised locket is a gorgeous keepsake and a beautiful piece of jewellery that I will cherish and wear often.

You can see the whole range of plain and engraved lockets over on their website. Follow them on Instagram and Facebook to keep up to date. Use MOTHERGIFT5 at checkout for 5% off. You can win a £100 voucher to spend on anything you fancy at Lovelox in the competitions below.

Brushed cotton pyjamas from British Boxers

British Boxers are perhaps best known for their undies subscription service which sends out a pair of new pants or knickers every month from £7.95, saving 50% off their normal prices.

As well as underwear, they sell super comfy nightwear too. This pyjama set in Edinburgh Check from British Boxers is made from the softest brushed cotton. They are great quality PJs; they’re warm, they’re snuggly, they’re bright and I love them – if your mum is a fan of comfy nightwear then these PJs might be a great Mother’s Day gift.

They come in sizes petite to XXL and cost £109. You can also buy this pattern in men’s and kids’ pyjamas, dressing gown etc here. Use the code WHINGEWINE20 to get 20% off your order!

Crystal Jewellery from Xander Kostroma

Xander Kostroma – who makes crystal jewellery and accessories – sent me this beautiful sterling silver 7 chakra necklace. It features seven raw quartz chip crystals, each representing its own chakra. As someone who has been doing yoga regularly for several years now, I reckon I could name four of them if I was asked in a pub quiz. Possibly five. What about you?

Anyway, it’s a beautiful piece of jewellery which will add a pop of colour to any outfit and will basically go with everything. It costs £44 and also comes in gold tone. There is also a matching bracelet and suncatcher. The whole range can be found here.

Satin multiway dress from Identity Lingerie

Identity Lingerie is a family run, UK-based brand producing ethically sound and sustainable lingerie, nightwear and dresses for all bodies.

This Silky Satin Multiway Infinity Dress comes in 15 different colours and in sizes XS/S-XL/XXL as well as available in custom sizes. The dress has a elasticated middle and two straps which can be styled in over 30 ways, some of which you can see here. I think it would make a lovely formal dress for a wedding as a bridesmaid or guest.

Or, if you are like me, when tidying the house with your slippers on. Fancy, no?

Identity also stock women and men’s pyjamas, slip nighties and robes made from the same fabric (I have some pyjamas and I love them!). This beautiful dress costs £124 full price, however currently is currently available for £86.80. Check out their website here.

Handmade necklace from Jana Reinhardt Jewellery

I previously worked with Jana Reinhardt jewellery reviewing a beautiful hummingbird necklace which is still one of my favourite pieces of jewellery. In fact I wore it so regularly that I broke the clasp. Fortunately Jana offered to fix it for me, which I was am absolutely so grateful for.

Anyway, I love owls and have done since I was a (very cool) little girl. This gorgeous little owl pendant is delicate and charming. It is available in silver, gold, white gold, rose gold or platinum and you can get a longer chain (20-22 inches) if you prefer; the standard chain is 16-18 inches.

Each piece of jewellery, many of which which feature an animal or bird, or is handmade in my old hometown of Worthing by Jana and her husband Ross – who have 40 years of goldsmithing experience between them.

I think this piece is just beautiful and would make such a lovely Mother’s Day gift; I may even consider letting my daughter (also owl-obsessed) borrow it from time to time.

The owl pendant costs £95 in silver. Visit Jana Reinhardt’s website here and follow her on Instagram.

Waterproof coat from Lighthouse Clothing

If your mum is an all-weather walker like I am, then this coat will keep her dry on the most dismal of dog walks. Full length and waterproof, it has a zip and poppers to keep it closed and you out of the cold. It has a good sized hood and caped shoulders to keep you dry and deep, zipped pockets which are perfect for your keys, phone and dog treats. It’s lined for warmth but not too thick meaning it will be the perfect coat for spring showers.

Team it with some wellies and the rain won’t be able to touch you!

The Outback full length waterproof coat is available from size 6 to 24 in seven different colours and costs £84.99 from Lighthouse Clothing.

Micro Bar Box

If your mum is a fan of cocktails – or indeed spirits or prosecco – then a MicroBarBox could be the perfect Mother’s day gift idea! Each gift set is a bar in a box; you get everything but the glass, fruit and ice.

This particular set is part of their special offering for Mother’s Day and contains all the ingredients and instructions to make five classic cocktails to make at home; an Old Fashioned, a Chambord Daiquiri, a Gin Martini, a Bramble and a Vodka Martini. The kit contains ten units of alcohol in all and costs £49.95 including a personalised Mother’s Day card.

Take a look at the other boxes which are available for Mother’s Day here! If this sounds like your kind of thing, then you can WIN a Prosecco MicroBarBox in the competitions below.

Cocoba Chocolate

Cocoba Chocolate is good stuff. As I write this, I’m munching on their wonderful pink prosecco bar so I feel like I’m super-qualified to say that.

They offer a fantastic array of high-quality chocolate gifts for all occasions including hot chocolate bombes and spoons which start at £3.95 (or you can grab a set of three for £10.95), chocolate bars, and of course – lots of Easter goodies (yep, that’s on the horizon too – don’t get caught out!).

You can take a look at all the chocolate gifts on the Cocoba Chocolate website here and there’s free delivery if you spend over £35. Fancy some chocolate? You can WIN a Cocoba Easter Bundle in the competitions below.

PIAFF Brut Champagne

An easy one, this; if your mum likes a nice drink then what better than champagne to celebrate Mother’s Day? After all, you being her child is worth celebrating. This bottle of PIAFF Brut Champagne (RRP £41) offers something a bit special to sip while she enjoys her bubble bath, or to save for a celebratory drink once she’s successfully ditched the kids/grandkids. Combining Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes it has notes of apple and pair, an almost creamy mousse and a delicate fizz.

Campaneo Spanish red wine

If red is more your thing (and when it’s as dark and dismal as February has been, its appeal definitely increases to me!) then this Spanish red, Campaneo Garnacha, is a lovely smooth and full bodied wine which has a delicate spice to it, and is perfect paired with red meat or tomato-based dishes or drunk in front of the telly on a Friday night after a hectic week.

It’s really well priced; it currently costs £6.50 in Tesco or if you live near a Morrisons you can get two bottles for £11! We did a blind taste test and I actually preferred it to the more expensive wines we tried.

You can source Campaneo from your local supermarket and find out more on their website here.

Angels Dare premixed cocktails

Cocktails in a can never fail to disappoint; either they’re so weak you might as well not bother, or overly sweet and fizzy.

These Cheeky Wee Kiss cocktails from Angels Dare are a respectable 10% ABV and aren’t fizzy, hallelujah. A mix of gin, rhubarb, strawberry, ginger and cranberry they’re sweet but not awful, and taste more like mixed cocktails than any other cocktails in a can I’ve tried, which is praise indeed.

They cost £6.50 each and you can buy them here. There are stockists listed on their website.

Nobleza del Sur Olive Oil

If your mum is a bit of a foodie or a chef at heart, then a nice bottle of artisan olive oil can make all the difference to a dish.

This Andalusian Nobleza del Sur Early Harvest “Day” Picual Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is extracted no more than 4 hours after the olives are plucked from the tree. It’s called Early Harvest because the olives are picked early in the season when they’re unripe, which conserves the natural antioxidants and polyphenols, producing olive oil with superior health benefits.

The Nobleza del Sue olive oil is perfect for dressing a salad, dipping bread with a bit of balsamic vinegar, or cooking.

It costs £24.50 and can be bought from the Artisan Olive Oil Company here.

Cadbury’s Double Deck Selection Box

Who can say no to chocolate? Weirdos, that’s who.

Cadbury’s Dairy Milk is the chocolate of choice for many people. This Double Deck selection box contains over 500g of Milk Chocolate bars and treats. It has an RRP of £15 and you can buy it here, where there’s also a selection of hampers and other delicious chocolately gifts.
