Well, well, well, look who decided to grace us with their presence! It’s you, the procrastinator who has yet to buy a Mother’s Day present for their dear old mum. But fear not, friends and internet strangers; I am here to help you get your act together before you incur the wrath of your mother’s disappointment. Buying a gift is much easier than dealing with a guilt trip from your mother that could last for weeks. So, let’s get to it and find some perfect Mother’s Day presents before it’s too late!
This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 19th March 2023. If you ask any mum what they actually want for Mother’s Day, they’re likely to say a lie in, or a bit of peace and quiet and relaxation, so that’s what this gift guide is all about!
This gift guide is specifically for mums that deserve to relax.
I mean, is there any other kind?
If yours is more of a mum on the go, or you want some alternative ideas for Mother’s Day presents, then check out the second part of this year’s gift guide HERE.
First up on the relaxation list, how about a lovely bath?
A nice scented candle
Step one of a relaxing bath is to run the bath. Then you need to remember to lock the door. And then, you need to light a lovely smelly candle.
Scented candles create a warm and inviting atmosphere in any room, filling it with a pleasant aroma that can help to relax and de-stress. The right scent can also evoke happy memories or a sense of calm. This Yankee Candle gifted from a range at Very.co.uk smells just like roses and is very lovely indeed.
These large 623g candle jars cost £24.99 from Very.
A lovely bottle of champers
An easy one this! Champagne has a long history of being associated with celebrations and milestones, so giving your mum a bottle of bubbly is a lovely way to mark the occasion. This bottle of Rosé champagne offers something a bit special to sip while she enjoys her bubble bath.
Made to celebrate last year’s Royal British Legion centenary, Champs de Fleurs means ‘fields of flowers’, referencing the fields of poppies that flourished on the Western Front following the First World War, which became the symbol of Remembrance.
This Champs de Fleurs (Rosé) costs £55 a bottle and can be purchased online from Eminent Wines, with 10% of profits going to the Royal British Legion.
Some chocolate
Not fond of champagne? Want something alcohol free but still luxurious to sip in the bath? A hot chocolate bomb from Cocoba is just the trick. Made from the finest Belgian milk chocolate, and filled with heart marshmallows waiting to pop out from inside, pop into a mug, cover in warm milk and stir!
The sharing hearts are handmade and decorated with freeze dried strawberries and chocolate drizzle.
Both sets cost £9.95, and you can see the full range of mother’s day chocolate presents on their website.
A book
Of course, everyone needs a good book to read in the bath. Luckily (??) my bathroom is a Wi-Fi black spot so it forces me to chill out and disconnect, and reading is one of my favourite ways to pass the time and relax. Saying that, I have to say the more murders the better.
This is a new thriller by Nadine Matheson and it’s the second book in the Inspector Henley series – I’ve not read it yet but I have download the first book in the series ‘The Jigsaw Man‘ on my Kindle which is currently free for Prime members and has some amazing reviews!
The Binding Room is also available on Amazon in hardback and paperback, as well as Kindle version and both books have excellent reviews. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
Some lovely smellies
I love love LOVE L’Occitane and this Herbae L’Occitane Spartium collection is gorgeous and floral, and perfect for the spring. It just lifts my mood. With a 50ml Eau de Toilette, 250ml shower gel and a 30ml hand cream in a lovely yellow box, as Mother’s Day presents go it’s definitely up there as a lovely luxurious gift for a lucky mum.
Containing £82.50 worth of products, the gift set retails at £65 for the set and you can buy it from L’Occitane stores or online.
A reed diffuser
Create a relaxing spa-like ambience at home using a reed diffuser. Scented oil travels up the reeds, slowly releasing fragrance into the air and filling the room with a subtle, long-lasting scent.
Unlike candles, which require a flame and should be monitored, reed diffusers can be left unattended, making them a safer option for homes with children or pets or forgetful mums who may fall asleep after a very long day.
This one from Copenhagen Candle Company smells like a fresh seaside breeze. It’s available in 80, 100, 150 and 400ml and costs from £8 for the smallest ones. The 150ml diffuser gives up to 12 weeks of gorgeous scent.
A snuggly throw
Not ready to retire to bed yet? Read your book on the sofa under a luxurious throw and surrounded by cushions like a nest. It’s the only way to be – after all, who can afford heating at the moment?!
This lovely 150 x 125 cm yellow diamond throw was from I Want One Of Those (IWOOT) where it is in the sale at the moment, costing £26.49. It goes perfectly with my mustard-themed front room. There is currently free delivery on Mother’s Day Gifts with the code MUMFD.
A nice new duvet cover
Crawling into bed after a relaxing bath is at least 100% better when you’ve clean sheets on the bed, and even better when they’re brand new, crisp, never-slept-in-before sheets!
These bold printed Eden sheets from Belledorm feature etched palm leaves on a blue background. The set – a cotton/poly mix – has a two year guarantee and it comes in a fabric bag which is really useful for storage and means that there’s no plastic in the packaging.
This set is currently on sale, and prices start from £33. Check out their list of Mother Day Gifts.
A hamper full of exciting goodies
If you’re not sure what to go for, then a hamper full of goodies including, of course, a nice bottle of wine, some biscuits and some chocolate makes a lovely Mother’s Day gift that can be delivered if you can’t be with your mum on the day.
This particular hamper which combines sweet and savoury snacks costs £35.99 from Very.co.uk, but there are loads of hampers depending on what you’re looking for; your mum might like prosecco, white wine or something non-alcoholic, love sweets and chocolate or prefer savoury snacks.
A spa day
If peace and quiet isn’t entirely unachievable at home, why not buy your mum a spa day as a Mother’s Day present?
There are plenty of brilliant spa day options on the Buyagift website including treatments, lunch and even overnight stays depending on your budget. There really is something for everyone and every budget, and there are often great deals and money off codes.
This Premium Spa Day with up to an hour of treatments, lunch or afternoon tea for two people – some including a glass of prosecco – can be used in a variety of locations all around the UK. The best thing about Buyagift is that if your recipient decides they’d prefer a different experience, they are fully flexible and they can choose anything on the site, either paying or banking the difference if their chosen gift is more or less expensive.
This particular experience, the Premium Spa Day, costs £149.99 from the Buyagift website.

It works well as her birthday was on 26th March, so the basket usually blooms for a long while after both occasions.
