This is a collaborative post: If you’re looking for new ideas for a family breakfast that are quick and easy, and will be enjoyed by the whole family, here are six of our favourites!
Breakfast burritos
Breakfast burritos are just what you need for busy mornings. These burritos can be prepared quickly but they can also be frozen which means they’re a good option for when you are facing a busy week as two minutes in the microwave gives you a full and flavour-packed meal.
The best thing about this meal is that it doesn’t get old. At the end of the week, you can prepare these burritos and store them for days in the freezer so when everyone is rushing to leave at least they leave with something to eat. These are also a great meal for a sit-down breakfast at the table.
With eggs, bacon, and vegetables – whatever your preference – all hidden in the tortilla, this meal provides protein, veggies, and healthy carbohydrates to keep you going all day.
Pancakes

For a comfort food sweet breakfast, crepe style pancakes are at the top of my list. They can be made quicker and taste just as excellent – or even better – than waffles or American style pancakes.
The pancake batter recipe is so easy; only flour (such as King Arthur flour), eggs and milk are required. If you’re looking to make a vegan or dairy-free pancake, the batter is also just as easy to produce.
This is a meal that would be better suited for the families that eat breakfast together at the table. If you have more time than usual in the morning, the kids can also help them prepare breakfast. Something like this first thing in the morning is a fun way to start off the day – both for parents and children.
Pancakes can be eaten with whatever is desired. Some people enjoy them with savoury foods such as cheese and ham – while we prefer a sweet version with fruit, Nutella, honey, or just sugar and lemon.
Egg muffins
There are countless egg recipes that can provide a filling and protein-packed breakfast. However, sometimes it can be hard to change up having eggs on toast every other day. Egg muffins are a great way to feed your kids eggs for breakfast that they will appreciate.
The egg muffins are so quick and excellent for a healthy breakfast, setting you up for work and school. You can make so many changes with these as well since they can be made with any ingredients you have available in the fridge. This dish can be made from scratch – you do not need to prepare food or go grocery shopping ahead of time for this simple meal. Different variations, with which practically all types of vegetables, meats, and carbohydrates may be tested.
This meal is a great thing to prepare for the kids to grab off the plate and head out the door.
Overnight oats
Overnight oats are essentially a no-cook oatmeal approach. Instead of preparing oatmeal on the stove or using a microwave, you soak the oats will any type of milk or dairy free milk alternative. The recipe is a cold breakfast recipe instead of a heated meal so ideal for hot, summer days.
After leaving the rolled oats overnight in the fridge, you can retrieve them from the refrigerator in the morning and enjoy a creamy, thick, and healthy breakfast. It takes around 4 hours (at the minimum) for overnight oats to be ready – hence the suggestion that you leave them over night. The best thing about this is that all you have to do is take the pre-made meal out of the fridge for the kids to dig in right away.
Organic jumbo oats are a superfood, because of their high fibre content they will keep you full all morning. They also provide a lot of protein – which is a great way to start off the day – and they’re high in antioxidants.
Avocado toast

Avocado on toast is very popular, full of healthy fats and so easy – you just need toast, avocado and seasoning. Mash the avocado with a fork and spread it on top of your toast; to mix it up a bit, use sourdough bread, muffins, or bagels. Cooking up a fried egg or scrambled eggs is also a great way to add protein to the meal.
If you enjoy something saltier in the morning then you can also fry up some bacon to add to the side – not the healthiest, maybe, but delicious none the less.
Ready Brek pancakes
This recipe for Ready Brek pancakes is still one of our absolute favourites. Quick, easy and healthier than the flour-based alternative, it’s a really versatile and filling recipe that’s popular with kids and adults and a good option for people that don’t eat wheat.
