Who doesn’t love chocolate? The Mini Delices 5 in 1 Chocolate Workshop helps you to create your own yummy treats to give as gifts – or just snack on.
What’s in the box?
Inside the box you get a workstation as pictured, which you need to assemble by slotting together and adding the sticker. There is a bain-marie for melting the chocolate in; this is a plastic bowl which you fill with hot water, and a bowl which clicks on top into which the chocolate goes to melt.
There are four circular moulds which can be used to make shapes and chocolates, to containers for sprinkles, a bowl, a mini brush, a mini spoon, a pair of mini tongs, a mini serving spatula, six hard plastic lollipop sticks (reusable), six flat sticks (reusable), three reusable mini gift boxes, and six foil chocolate wrappers and 12 lollipop cellophane gift bags which are not reusable.
You do need to supply your own chocolate and decorations. Top tip, B&M sells a motherflipping HUGE bar of Galaxy for £2, and you can eat about 75% of it to yourself afterwards.
How does the Mini Delices 5 in 1 Chocolate Workshop work?
Fill up the bottom part of the bain-marie with hot water to the line and then click the bowl on top. The instructions recommend filling with water from the hot tap and in hot weather the chocolate melts really quickly. You could use water from the kettle but this is obviously much more dangerous – please supervise closely however you do this.
Use the spatula to move the chocolate around in the bowl until it’s smooth.
There are moulds for chocolate shapes, and ones to make lollies and chocolate sticks with. They are a mixture of lolly shapes and cute characters like hearts, clouds and of course, llamas and bunnies.
Place the chosen mould on to the turntable and spoon the chocolate in. You can use the extra tools to make sure the mould is 100% full.
Top tip: Add decorations like sprinkles before you fill up the chocolate mould.
Next it’s time to put your creations into the fridge; they take less than an hour to set at which point you can take them out and package them.
Note that the lolly sticks, plastic ‘gift bags’ can be rinsed and used again, however the foil and cellophane can’t, so use these sparingly.
How did the chocolates come out?
Well, it was a very hot day, and in packaging them up to display they melted a little bit. I would probably recommend playing with the Mini Delices 5 in 1 Chocolate Workshop on a somewhat cooler day, if you get one.
Still, they tastes pretty good, and between my oldest and her brother, they ate the lot without saving any for me!
What was good about the Mini Delices 5 in 1 Chocolate Workshop?
Aside from getting the water and clicking the bain-marie into place, the Mini Delices 5 in 1 Chocolate Workshop was a largely supervision free activity, I suppose depending on how much chocolate you are happy for your children to consume while you’re not looking.
All the bits survived the dishwasher, and the amount of reusable items was good. Obviously it’s a bit of a pain that you have to go out and buy your own chocolate and sprinkles but I’m not sure that there’s any way around this. Just make sure you buy some special so you don’t have to give up your own secret stash.
