The summer is almost upon us and with lots of time spent at home in lockdown, the outdoor toys came out as soon as the sun did; among them the Tuff Tray and the sand (kids love it, I hate it. Kids won).
Thanks to Funrise toys, we have some new CAT construction vehicles which we were sent to review; a CAT Steel Dump Truck and a Construction Fleet Digger Sand Set!

CAT Steel Dump Truck
The CAT Steel dumper truck is huge (17 inches long – almost as big as a real one, according to my son…) and extremely robust.

The hollow body is made from tough plastic with a tilting payload bucket/hopper made from steel. The wheels move freely on axles meaning it can be pushed over rough ground or sand with ease.
The hopper is held on with steel screws and glides up and down easily; and being left in the upright or horizontal position will not tip the vehicle over.

This CAT toys steel dumper truck vehicle comes with a lifetime guarantee, it is a great toy for the garden which will withstand the elements if left outside.
Although the hopper is made from steel, the truck isn’t as heavy as you might expect, however it can hold a full weight of stones or sand without buckling or breaking and will stand up to some mistreatment (which is only to be expected from a toy!). Just try to stop your kids from sitting on it – tempting as it might be!

The RRP of the CAT steel dumper truck is £30, and it is suitable for children aged three and upwards although there are no small parts.
It can be purchased from Amazon here.
CAT Construction Fleet Sand Sets
These sets come in a presentation box, containing a smaller ten-inch plastic CAT vehicle (one set has a digger, and the other has a dumper truck), as well as hard hat and a fork and scoop for sand play.

The hat is much bigger than I was expecting – it will fit on any children’s heads (I could even wear it). Inside is an adjustable ring so you can make it snug on smaller children’s heads, and there are holes in the sides in case you wish to add elastic to keep it in place.

The vehicles have a hollow plastic body and four hollow plastic wheels so it can be pushed along.

The dumper truck can tilt to pour sand from the dump bed.

The digger part is articulated in two places so it can push sand along, scoop it up and drop it somewhere else – such as the back of the dumper truck.

The vehicles are light enough for a smaller child to use and will stand up to being left in the garden overnight.

The fork and shovel can be used separately but they also connect so they can be used as a scooping tool for use in the sand. These would make great sets to take to the beach, along with a bucket, to keep a little one amused.

Each Construction Fleet Sand Set costs £15, making it a great option for a birthday present for a child aged two years or over.
The digger set can be purchased from Amazon here. The dumper truck set can also be purchased from Amazon.
