Bedroom Athletics slippers review: ‘Kate’ Harris Tweed mules

Disclaimer: This is a collaborative post. I was sent these Bedroom Athletics slippers to review free of charge, but words and pictures are mine.

I’ll admit; when I first received an email from Bedroom Athletics regarding a review of their products, I did raise my eyebrows slightly. This is a family friendly blog, after all (well, for the most part. OK it isn’t particularly…). However, upon investigation, I discovered that Bedroom Athletics is in fact an online shop selling their own brand of dressing gowns, homeware and slippers.

Bedroom Athletics review

I am an avid slipper wearer. As someone who has worked from home for 5 years, I think of myself as something of a connoisseur in the art of slipper wearing. I believe that through my years of rigorous testing, I know exactly what makes an excellent slipper and I don’t shy away from sharing my opinions on this controversial issue. Lockdown has provided me an excellent opportunity to further hone this great skill.

What make a great pair of slippers?

Thanks to lockdown, I usually wear my slippers pretty much all day save for that few hours when I get to leave the house for my daily dog walk. This means they have to be super comfortable, like walking on a fluffy cloud, and warm, and fit well because there is nothing more annoying than a slipper than doesn’t stay on your foot.

I also occasionally need to step outside to put the bins out for collection, or collect the post, or run down the street after the dog who has escaped, and for that reason I like a sturdy sole that can cope with the outdoors without getting instantly soaked through.

I was kindly gifted a pair of slippers from Bedroom Athletics.

I chose the ‘Kate’ Harris Tweed Mule Slipper.

The arrived quickly, nicely packaged inside a branded shoe box.

These slip-on mules have a Harris Tweed fabric outer, which is available in several colour options; I chose grey (to match my bedroom, naturally) which has baby blue and pink running through it. These have a retail price of £55, although other colours are currently half price in the sale so it’s worth checking out their website. The ‘Kate’ mule slippers are lined with soft, warm Australian sheepskin and have a firm yet flexible non-slip sole.

I usually go for a size six. These slippers come in dual sizes so I chose a 5/6 and have found them to be big enough and very comfortable. They don’t slip off my feet, which I have found to be a problem with some mule slippers in the past. The sheepskin lining is warm and they are very much like walking on a fluffy cloud, not that I’ve ever walked on one (it would probably be quite wet though, and these mercifully aren’t).

The sole is durable and will stand up to the odd foray into the garden.

Mules not your style?

There are plenty of other slippers on the Bedroom Athletics site for both men and women; from full booties for toastie toes and ballerina pumps to slip-on sheepskin lined sliders and sandals. There are faux fur options available and at the time of writing, the cheapest pair of slippers was just £8.

They offer free UK shipping. They have over 2,500 reviews on Trustpilot with an average score of 4.7 out of 5, and offer ‘no quibble’ returns so you can be sure that your order is safe.

Take a look at the Bedroom Athletics online web shop for more details and follow them n Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates.
