If there’s one thing my kids love more than a blind bag collectible, it’s a superhero blind bag collectible. Predictably then, SuperZings superhero and villains collectibles – which are cost a pocket money-friendly 80p per packet making them the cheapest collectibles out there – have been a huge hit since the first series hit the shops.
There are now a further 80 characters to collect in series 5.
What are SuperZings series 5?
Aimed at children aged 4-8, SuperZings are small rubbery blind-bagged collectibls made by Magic Box Toys. They are brightly coloured everyday objects (for example a laptpop, a feather or a sandwich) which are either superheroes (with white eyes) or dastardly supervillains (with yellow eyes).
The newest series 5 SuperZings characters are similar to the previous series; each hero has a corresponding rival, for example ‘Frutti Fly’ is a fruit bowl and they have a nemesis who is ‘Mad Max’ the handblender. Each SuperZing character comes in two different colour variations.
The characters belongs to a ‘team’ of goodies (Sky Runners, Air Wings or Flying Surfers) or baddies (Lightning Raiders, Black Comets or Rocket Gang), and each team has a Captain who is a rare, silver character.
There are also two gold characters, Rocketzing (goodie) and Alien Bandit (baddie) who lead the groups!
There is also one super rare character in each series and this time it’s Kid Fury. Will you be lucky enough to find him?
In each series they try and add in something a little different; in series 5, many of the characters have wings instead of capes – these are ‘Super Flyers’.
This series there are also special vehicles; SuperZing Skyracers.
These come with a SuperZing character each too. There are four models to collect and they have different features; the Hungry Hunter has a button which captures SuperZings and the Mighty Cannon shoots baddies!

You can also buy the Starter Pack which we have for each series; each one contains a comic as well as a metallic Aerowagon and 3 blind-bagged SuperZings from series 5. The comic has a list of all the collectibles in it as well as continuing the story of the Rivals of Kaboom.
You can buy SuperZings from supermarkets individually for 80p each or if you want to collect the whole set or keep a bunch by for rewards/party bags, then you can buy a pack of 50 from Amazon – currently priced at just over £25 or just 50p each!
SuperZings Mission playsets
SuperZings now have some fabulous playsets so that as well as collecting, your children can use their mini heroes and villains and their imaginations to create fun games, beat the baddies and save Kaboom City!

This time we received Fire Strike and Bank Assault. Both SuperZings Mission playsets came with two vehicles, two characters which slot onto pegs inside the vehciles (all SuperZings can do this so they’re interchangeable) and some accessories.
The Superzings – Mission: Fire Strike set comes with a fire engine and a helicopter.
It also comes with two exclusive SuperZings, hero Water Rescuer and villain Wildfyre.
Push the helicopter along and the propellers will turn, remove the ladder from the side of the fire engine to climb up to the top, press the button and shoot water at Wildfyre’s flames.
The Superzings – Mission: Bank Assault Mission play set comes with Agent Silverstar and villain Gold Hands.
Gold Hands can open the bank vault by pressing a button, steal the gold and make off in his green, red and yellow vehicle.
Agent Silverstar can launch hook-missile from his police vehicle to catch him!
The SuperZings Mission playsets have an RRP of £15 each. They are well built little sets and have great play potential; if you already have a lot of SuperZings then they make great additions to your Kaboom City although they are also fun as standalone sets.
The little accessories and details mean that they’re not suitable for kids under 3 years old but perfect for preschoolers and primary aged kids – my 4 year old boy is obsessed with them!
