Playmobil is an old favourite toy cupboard staple; we have a collection that we started when my children were around toddlers that still gets used often, even by my almost nine year old. It’s a toy range with real longevity and durability.
The latest in the Playmobil product range are not just good for kids but for the environment too; the brand new Wiltopia collectible animals are the first sustainable range from Playmobil, made from at least 80% recycled materials.

About the new sustainable Wiltopia range from Playmobil
Wiltopia from Playmobil is a new range of collectible land and sea mammal, reptiles and birds from all over the world, including jungle animals, animals you might find on an African safari, animals from the forests and the Antarctic. There are currently twelve baby animals and fifteen medium-sized and large adult animal species to collect.

Each animal comes with an accessory – such as food – to enhance play, as well as a collectable animal card with a QR code, which takes you to a web app where there is exclusive content, and allows you to explore the animals in 3D with AR technology.

The animal figures are made from PCR plastic and bio-based plastics

PCR plastic is plastic that has already been used by consumers and then fed back into the recycling loop. The additional packaging is made of carboard and fully recyclable, with a small bag made of 100% recycled plastic to hold the accessories.

To hold, the animal figures feel much like a normal Playmobil animal might – hard and smooth – with possibly more of a matte finish but children will not see a significant different at all. Most of the figures are articulated so they can be posed.

I’ve noticed that a lot of children’s collectibles have recently started to use cardboard packaging so hopefully this is the start of much more sustainable plastic being used in children’s toys, which is something that I’ve always felt should be improved, after all the kids are the ones whose world we need to look after.
I think it’s a huge step in the right direction and I hope to see this becoming more commonplace in future.
How much and where to buy Wiltopia figures
The range cost between £3.99 for baby figures, £5.99 for the medium sized animals and £9.99 for the largest ones. You can see the whole range at Amazon here.
