This is a collaborative post.
We all know how hard it can be to get our kids out and active in a world of tablets, phones and television. One of the most popular forms of outdoor activity is going bike riding. But perhaps they simply aren’t ready to learn how to ride.
This is where kids’ scooters are also becoming just as popular in today’s market. Scooters for kids allow children to keep up with older bike riding siblings, or just give them that first taste of freedom of mobility!
And none has more mobility than kids 3 wheel scooters. These scooters have been designed as the one of the best initial play devices for children who have yet to ride. The additional wheel provides extra stability, breeding confidence in your kid’s ability to balance and not fall over.
Not all 3 wheel scooters are made the same however, so it’s important that you review the core components for quality. This includes handlebars, which should be wide with a sturdy grip, as well as stable board that is easy to steer. Ensure wheels are wide and can turn easily in any direction.
A common misconception is that a 3 wheel scooter is simply for younger children. While it is true as we mentioned above (being a fantastic first scooter experience), they are perfectly fine to use for children up to the age of 12.
If your child is having trouble developing their coordination, it’s important to let them know that there is no rush to move to a 2 wheel scooter, or to a kid’s bike.
As with any mobile play equipment, safety and supervision is crucial and this is true with 3 wheel scooters for kids. A helmet always needs to be worn, and you may also want to consider elbow and knee pads for extra protection. Long clothing can also help avoid scrapes and bruises but make sure it isn’t loose in a way that could get caught in any of the three wheels.
While letting your kids get out on their bikes, or in this case, scooters it’s also an ideal time to go out and get active with them. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a bike, most children are fairly easy to keep up with no matter what wheel device they’re using.
It’s important to always make time to build and foster long last memories and this is a simple, yet effective way to do so. And let’s be honest, most of us adults could do with a bit more physical activity these days, so why not make it a fun, family affair?
Finally, whether it’s biking, 2 or 3 wheel scooter action around the neighbourhood, your kids are bound to make new friends. It’s important for both their confidence and self-esteem to establish social skills. Just always remember to still conduct your due diligence with supervision, know who your kids are spending time with, and keep them to a local area like around your block.
