SuperThings (formerly known as Superzings) are cute little 1 inch rubber colourful pocket-money friendly collectible characters. For every SuperThings superhero, there is an opposite super villain, and you can collect the whole set by buying little blind bags, as well as larger sets which promise you’ll get the rarer characters.
As well as the characters, there are now playsets and vehicles, including the new SuperThings Rivals of Kaboom Rescue Truck which we were sent to review. With the Rescue Truck, you can bring your collection of SuperThings to life and add unlimited play potential!
SuperThings Rivals of Kaboom Rescue Truck review
The new Rescue Truck from SuperThings means the Kazoom Kids can answer calls for help from the citizens of Kaboom City – catching the bad guys in the Rescue Truck’s scoop and locking them up in the mobile jail with one movement!
Made from hard plastic with rubberised wheels, SuperThings Rivals of Kaboom Rescue Truck is quite big measuring 43cm long and 20cm high, and great for small hands.
It comes with one vehicle, one Kazoom Kid and one exclusive bike SuperThing.
Moving parts in the SuperThings Rescue Truck
Like any vehicle toy, the wheels turn so you can zoom the Rescue Truck along any flat flooring, but that’s not all; there are loads of different ways you can play with the SuperThings Rescue Truck.
The front windshield unclips so that you can place two SuperThings or Kazoom Kids in the driving seat.
The Rescue Truck has an extendable ladder which makes it even taller so the Kazoom Kids can always catch the villains no matter where they’re hiding!
The scoop in front of the truck can be deployed by the red lever on the side. If you place SuperThings on the scoop then press the button with the right amount of force, they’ll be flung straight into the jail.
By pushing down the red button on the side, the jail springs open to release whoever is inside.
On the opposite door, a little fold-down hatch makes room for a single SuperThing or Kazoom Kid to perch and ride.
The rescue ship, which sits on top of the SuperThings Rescue Truck and seats one character, is removeable and can unfold its wings and fly away to wherever it’s needed. It has little wheels on the bottom so can be pushed along a hard floor.
Underneath where the jet sits, there’s a hose/launcher; the water clicks in and can be released by pushing the button on the side which fires it forward.
The back portion of the truck all opens out (on both sides) to reveal space for at least nine SuperThings to sit securely.
There is also a Kazoom generator; open up the doors and place your character inside.
The SuperThings Rescue Truck comes with lights and sounds too; if you press the large button on the front, red and blue lights will flash and you will hear emergency sirens and vehicle sounds and the SuperThings theme song. These can be turned on and off via the button on the bottom, next to the battery compartment. The batteries are included!
Who is the Rescue Truck suitable for?
The Rescue Truck is suitable for children from three upwards. If you have a big collection of SuperThings already, it’s a great addition to your collection which you will be able to play with for hours!

What’s New in SuperThings Rescue Force Series 10?
This series has more than 80 new superheroes and villains to collect including two rare gold Superleaders figures, rare silver Captains, and also two ULTRA RARE SuperThings; hero Emperorder and villain Moonarchaos.
We were lucky to get Wagony, the gold rare villain (in fact we got two!) and Desventure, a silver captain, in our collection- but we’re still hunting for the ultra-rares!
SuperThings Rescue Force has a super team of larger three-inch chrome effect Kaboom Kid characters: Starlock, Toolie Kit and Watermax who are the heroes, and Cahillion, Breakmania and Funfire who are the villains. These are available to buy separately (RRP £5) in labelled boxes (not blind bagged); we had Cashillion to unbox, the evil villain and nemesis of Starlock.
In each box you get a Kaboom Kid, a SuperThing and accessory.
Cashillion is a bank robbing villain who comes with his own claw weapon for stealing cash! He leads the Money Masters, a team of three baddies; Doctor Shunt, Crime Dime and Moneymore.
We got all four collectibles in our haul!
By the way, you can tell easily who’s a goodie and who’s a baddie because the villains have yellow eyes, whereas the heroes have white eyes!

SuperThings Rescue Force Starter Pack
We probably should have started here; the starter pack!
Inside the SuperThings Rescue Force Starter Pack you get a comic book guide to the new characters, one special chrome effect* SuperThing, a SuperThing and a special metal jet.
The comic book guide has a story and some games for children to solve.
At the back of the comic book guide is a list of all the collectibles, which my son has handily annotated.
*When it says ‘chrome effect’ it’s really more like a shiny jelly sheen, and not hard or metallic. Here is our collection of chrome effect SuperThings.
SuperThings Multipacks
The best value way to buy SuperThings, and the easiest way to ensure you snag yourself rare characters, is in the multipacks of 10 SuperThings or 6 items including 4 SuperThings, a Rescue Jet and a Jump Wing which you can use to propel your SuperThing across the room!
The ten pack guarantees you a special rare gold leader, while the six pack contains at least one silver captain, although who knows who you will get!
SuperThings Rescue Force Rescue Jets
The SuperThings Rescue Force Rescue Jets come in two pieces which you can slot together, which means if you have more than one colour you can mix and match.
They have wings which tuck in, then are deployed by a button on the back of the jet.
Each pack contains one jet and one SuperThings. The Rescue Jets have space for either a SuperThings character or a Kazoom Kid to slot into them, ready for battle.
SuperThings Series 10: Rescue Force review
My kids have loved collecting SuperThings since the first series and unlike many collectibles which are collected and displayed, there is a huge element of play with playsets and vehicles available which mean they get brought out again and again.
What’s great about this series of SuperThings unlike the older SuperZings series is that the packaging for the blind bags is now made from cardboard rather than plastic, which means it can be recycled. The boxes are also cardboard, and there isn’t as much waste in terms of collector’s lists etc which can all be found online or in the Comic Book Guide.
The prices haven’t increased since the first series with the single blister packs still priced at 80p.

You can pick up single blind bags for 80p, and you can find them at the tills at Co-Op and other supermarkets. The starter pack is priced at £5.99, a pack of ten including a gold leader is priced at £9.99. The Kazoom Kids, which come with a SuperThing figure and an accessory, cost £5 each.
