I have said many times that as a freelancer – well, just as a parent actually – the school holidays can be tough!
Since starting pre-school, my kids have thrived on having a set routine.
When the school holidays roll around it can be hard on all of us.
They no longer have the constant stimulation that school provides and I no longer have six hours of relative peace and quite to Get Things Done. By the end, we all end up more stressed than we’d like.
This year, with both children in school full-time I have started taking my freelancing work more seriously and have been looking at ways of ensuring that it doesn’t grind to a halt over the Easter and summer holidays.
Barracudas Activity Day Camps provide an outstanding OFSTED-rated childcare solution that children will love.
Barracudas Activity Day Camps run throughout the East of England during the Easter and summer school holidays in school buildings, providing a range of different activities for children ages from 4.5 to 14.
There is a Barracudas holiday club here in Tonbridge – based at the Tonbridge Girls Grammar School – which is really handy for us.
Last year, my oldest got to try out Barracudas Activity Day Camps for a day over Easter and then for a week over the summer holidays.

I am delighted that this year I am partnering with Barracudas again and this year both of my children – the youngest of which is now over four and a half, the minimum age – are eligible to attend.
What happens at Barracudas Activity Day Camps?
The children can be dropped off any time from 8.30am (or 8am if you are signed up for early club).
Children go to their ‘base room’; classes which are divided by age. The youngest children start off in ‘Minnows’ before progressing through to Dolphins, Piranhas, Stingrays and then Barracudas as they get older.
Activities start at 9.30am and there are six sessions spread throughout the day, with two choices for each group so that the kids can always do something they enjoy.
An example timetable from Easter last year shows the kinds of activities that take place each day, with you can see is varied and exciting!
When we visited, more or less the whole school building was in use including the sports hall, playground, studios and classrooms, and any parts that were off-limits to the children were taped off or had signs posted on the doors.
The outside space was used for motorsports, and suring the summer holidays, there are water activities (swimming if there is a pool, or a giant inflatable water slide if not!).
The sessions end at 4.30pm with pick up by 5.30pm, with an optional late club running until 6pm for people needing to work longer hours.
My two are really looking forward to Barracudas this year and will be going during the Easter and summer holidays. It’s good for all of us!
