This post was written in collaboration with Posterlounge, however words and pictures are mine.
Something that we were planning to do this year was redecorating our living space. Obviously we won’t be able to do this now, which is a shame because we are all spending a lot more time in the house than usual.

Our lounge desperately needs repainting and other areas of the house have been painted more recently but are still bare and boring.
As we can’t re-paint, we have been working with Posterlounge to make our walls more exciting!
We were given a generous budget to pick out some artwork for our house from the Posterlounge UK site.
We went for three different types of prints for different areas of the house, in various sizes.

They arrived, well packed, via courier after a few days and we couldn’t wait to open up the package and see what was inside.
Here is what we chose!
Aluminium prints
We have some smaller versions of the 3mm aluminium composite prints in the garden office. They are among the cheapest types of print starting at £15.95 for a 13x18cm picture, but don’t let that put you off.

Due to the material used they are perfect for spaces with possible damp (hence having them in the office) or places that they might to be wipe cleaned, which is why we decided to get one for the kitchen. That way, any oil or food splashes can be easily cleaned off.
The aluminium prints come with with separate fixings which adhere to the back of the print and then hang on screws in the wall. You need to apply the fixings 24 hours before you are planning to hang your picture.
We went for a large Vincent van Gogh ‘Irises’ print which fits in perfectly with the ochre colour scheme and brings in new colours to what was quite a boring kitchen.
I absolutely love it; it makes such a difference after a year of bare white walls.
Wood prints

Slighty more expensive (starting at £16.95 per 13 x 18cm print) the wood prints are printed straight onto a 9mm plywood panel.
These prints do not come with fixings but are lightweight and can easily be taped onto the wall with picture hanging tape.

They have natural wood grain running through them and I think that our nature-inspired wood prints look great on our coloured bedroom walls.
Canvasses

Canvasses are the most expensive option starting at £18.95 for the smallest prints, but they look fantastic.

They come with hangers on them so that all you have to do is put nails in the right place in the wall; unfortunately our walls had wires running all the way through them where the nails were needed so we used No More Nails picture hanging tape instead, and this has worked really well!

The selection of prints is really quite amazing. You could take days choosing the perfect design to complement your room.
We chose two matching large bird canvasses for the family room.
The kids each chose one big and one small print for their own bedroom walls.

The new pictures have lifted my mood considerably. It seems silly perhaps, but having bright colourful prints on the walls makes such a difference and it was such an easy way to bring a bit of happiness to our home.
