Disclaimer: We were sent these Discovery 3D jigsaw puzzles to review free of charge, but words and pictures are mine.
Struggling to keep the kids occupied during lockdown is something most parents be able to identify with, especially if they also have to work at the same time.
School work is all well and good but sometimes they need a break and you just need them entertained for a while so you can do other things.

These 150 piece 3D jigsaw puzzles featuring a triceratops, tyrannosaurus rex and velociraptors were just the thing to get my dinosaur-mad jigsaw fan busy for a few hours.

What’s in the box?
Each Discovery 3D jigsaw puzzle box has a holographic image on the outside so you know exactly what you’re getting. You have to rip them open, but they re-seal – a bit like cereal boxes.

Inside each box there are 150 pieces of jigsaw about 3cm x 3cm big. They have white backs and plastic, holographic fronts with the 3D pattern on them.
When complete, the puzzle measures 18 x 12 inches (46 x 31 cm) and when you move your head, the dinosaurs will appear to move against the background.

Was the 3D jigsaw puzzle easy to put together?
The 3D jigsaw puzzle pieces are thick because of the plastic holographic layer so can be quid difficult to get into place, so it requires a bit more pressing than a regular cardboard jigsaw, however the pieces do not bend or crease like thinner jigsaws.

Because of the holographic pattern and the fact that the dinosaurs all have dark, scaly skin, it is a bit harder than a normal jigsaw to complete.
Because of the design, the triceratops jigsaw has a lot of similar colour jigsaw pieces so is probably the trickiest of the three to complete and took my son about an hour to do and he needed a little help with it. He is four and loves jigsaws, so I’d say that the 5+ recommendation is about right.

He was really proud of himself when the puzzle was complete and hasn’t let us take them back apart yet; the thick pieces do mean that the completed puzzle can be moved without it falling apart which is good if your child doesn’t like to have their creation destroyed immediately!
