Mother’s Day is on Sunday 27th March 2022. If you’re looking for something lovely to buy your mum (or, if you’re a dad and your kids are small, to buy for their mum) you’re cutting it a bit fine, but never fear; here are some lovely Fran-chosen-and-approved ideas for Mother’s Day presents.
A spa day
If you ask any mum what they actually want for Mother’s Day, they’re likely to say a lie in, or a bit of peace and quiet. Unfortunately, this Mother’s Day we are all being given the wonderful gift of an hour less in bed, which is just peachy isn’t it.

An easy one this! I’m a sucker for a glass of wine – as you may have noticed – and my particular favourite is a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

A hamper of goodies
If your mum prefers to stay in, why not treat them to something decadent.
Wine and chocolate is a classic when it comes to Mother’s Day presents, and for a reason. This luxury personalised gift hamper from Farrar and Tanner contains a bottle of very decent Calvet Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a jar of exceedingly moreish chocolate almonds and some gorgeous stem ginger.

These little silver Bee Lucky stud earrings by designed Olivia Burton are so cute and dainty, I love them!
Made from sterling silver, they are delicate with intricate detail and measure about 1cm across the wings. They come in a fabric pouch inside a posh gift box and would make a great mother’s day present for someone with pierced ears.

The Mum Who Lost Her Shit
One of my favourite bloggers, Matt Coyne from Man vs Baby, never fails to make me laugh. I’m a bit of an awkward fan girl if anything, and he’s only seen me steaming drunk so he probably thinks I’m very strange. Not far wrong to be fair.
Anyway, his latest offering, a rhyming picture book called ‘The Mum Who Lost Her Shit’ will resonate with mums everywhere – and make them laugh. You can order it directly from his website for £6.99 plus postage. If you don’t already, go an follow him on Facebook and make your news feed at least 37% better.
Art
An art print is a bit different to the usual chocolates and flowers, and an online art gallery is a lovely way pick something which your mum will cherish and look at every day.
There are plenty of pieces of art under £500 over on Wychwood Art and many prints available for under £100. I chose a limited edition screenprint called ‘On The Cusp’ by artist Sarah Targett which costs £80 and now lives above my workdesk. I love it because it combines my love of birds and tea, and the bright blues make me smile. The print measures 56cm x 41cm and arrived rolled.
Bear in mind that prints come unframed, so you’ll have to get them framed separately; I’m currently waiting on a custom mount for my picture so that I can display the whole thing.

A new bag
It’s a total cliché but finally ditching the HUGE mum bag filled with nappies, wipes, changes of clothes and all the snacks in the world is a big, somewhat emotional, step. Nah, just kidding, I LOVED it.
Also from Very.co.uk, this black leather cross-body bag from Pure Luxuries London is the perfect replacement for a knackered bag I’ve been looking to replace for several years.
With different pockets and room for essentials, it’s exactly what I was after, although there are a whole range on the Very website. This one retails for £59.
Jewellery
New jewellery brand MYRI, from the Engravers Guild of London, offer a range of personalised necklaces and bracelets which can be engraved.
With prices between £25 and £85 they offer affordable, sentimental jewellery. I chose the silver Russian Rings necklace, with an RRP of £49, which has my children’s names engraved into the interlocking silver rings.
There are also single and triple ring necklaces available, and the necklace is available in gold and rose gold as well as silver with prices up to £68 for the gold or rose gold triple Russian Rings necklace.
