Is Your Current Home Ticking All of Your Boxes?

This is a collaborative post: Our homes play a huge role in our lives. These are the spaces that we can call our own. It’s where we retire at the end of each day, whether that’s following a day at work, a day with friends and family, hobbies, exploring or anything else. It’s somewhere we can keep our most personal belongings. It’s somewhere we can disconnect and be ourselves. It’s somewhere we can relax, prepare meals, bond with our nearest and dearest and so much more. It’s not surprising that people say that home is where the heart is. But you also need to consider whether your home is ticking all of your boxes. Sometimes, we move into a space because we don’t have much time to make a decision and need to secure somewhere, regardless of whether it’s entirely suitable or not. Sometimes, we move into a property that is ideal for us at the time, but then our wants and needs change as life goes on and we begin to find we need to move somewhere more suitable. Here are some areas to consider that will help you to determine whether your home is right for you.

Size

A key factor in whether your home is right for you is size. Properties come in all sorts of shapes and sizes nowadays and you’re going to need to find a property that works well with your individual needs. Sometimes, you may find that you need to renovate or move homes because your family has grown and you no longer have enough bedrooms or space for everyone. Whether that’s because a partner has moved in, you have had children, you bring an elderly loved one into your home for care or anything else. Size plays a big role in whether you’re comfortable at home, or whether you feel cramped. At the opposite end of the scale, you may find that you need to downsize. Perhaps your children have grown up and moved out and you now have way too much space for one person to use or maintain. Downsizing is an option too.

Location

Another important factor in home happiness is location. Where you live can have a huge impact on your day to day lifestyle. Perhaps you’ve changed jobs and no longer live near to your workplace. You may find that you don’t enjoy the longer commute and want to move closer to your new place of work. Maybe your personal needs have changed. You may be living in the city but want to look at property for sale near the coast, in the suburbs or further into the countryside to start a family or raise children. You may want to move somewhere safer or more desirable as your income grows.

Individual Elements

Then there are smaller, more individual elements of a home you may want to switch up. This could be that you want a garden, you want more bathrooms or anything along those lines. It’s always fine to change your home to better suit your needs in any way!

These are just a few areas that you may want to mull over, but each should help you to determine whether your home is right for you!
