This is a collaborative post: You may be asking yourself – how do I clean mould? – but first, it’s essential to know what exactly this is.
Mould is a type of fungi that are naturally occurring organisms, which grow best in damp and poorly ventilated areas and reproduce by making spores. Any home can develop a mould problem given the right conditions, and one-off deep cleaning can sometimes be tough. Mould is a more common problem than most homeowners realize. It is usually found in excessively moist places like bathrooms and basements where humidity is higher.
It may look harmless, but the structural problems it can cause in your house can be a matter of great concern. Moreover, it can also lead to serious health issues among humans and even pets. Thus, it is crucial to eliminate the problem at an early stage.
That is why we are giving you 5 tips for removing mould from your house:
Remove mould with Vinegar
Cleaning mould with Vinegar is a commonly used method as it can be found in every kitchen, unlike car mould removal where you need unique products. This is how you can remove mould with Vinegar:
Pour undiluted Vinegar into a spray bottle and spray it directly on the mould, black stain, or damp stain. Let it sit for an hour or two, and then wipe the area clean with water and allow it to dry. If the Vinegar smell bothers you, add a few drops of essential oil.
Remove mould with Soda
You can also treat mould with soda. This works as follows:
Dissolve 5 grams of soda in 25 ml warm water. Spray the mixture on the surface with mould and leave it to work for an hour. Scrub with a hard brush and wipe off the mould with a cloth.
Remove mould with Tea Tree Oil
Another commonly used substance in one-off deep cleaning is tea tree oil. Its antifungal and anti-bacterial properties make it ideal for killing mould naturally. The procedure is as follows:
Mix 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil with 2 cups of water. Spray the affected areas, scrub them, and wipe any excess away with a cloth. Leave it to dry.
Remove mould with Citrus Seed Extract and Water
Unlike Vinegar, citrus seed extract does not have an odour. Dilute about 20 drops of extract with 2 cups of water, mix in a spray bottle and spray onto the mould. Do not rinse.
Remove mould with Hydrogen Peroxide
Spray three per cent hydrogen peroxide from a bottle onto the mouldly areas and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Scrub clean, then wipe with a damp cloth to remove residual mould spores. You can also mix hydrogen peroxide with Vinegar and store it in a bottle that you keep in a dark place (as light breaks down the potency of the hydrogen peroxide).
Final Thoughts
Mould can cause massive damage to your property if its growth is left unbothered. Let’s not forget the health issues as well. Thus, it is essential to take care of mould immediately.
The things you can do to prevent mould in the future are to let lots of sunlight in. It is essential to ventilate the room properly, too. Always open a window, after using the bathroom or install a good dehumidifier. If you feel overwhelmed by this problem, then book Energy Cleaning and get things handled properly and efficiently.
