Improve your family play time with a trampoline

This post was written by Alyssa Campbell

Screen-free play is vital, but it’s not always done in today’s generation. While we grown-ups were used to playing outside and being engaged in physical activities, most kids’ idea of fun today is just sitting around with their eyes glued to their phone screens. If you want to break this cycle, one of the greatest things you can invest in is a trampoline.

Here, we outline some of the unique ways you can creatively use a trampoline to improve your family playtime, as well some benefits you can get.

Creative Play

One of the great things about a trampoline is it opens a lot of opportunities to exercise creativity. An enclosed trampoline can be transformed into a castle room, a circus tent, a wood cabin, a pirate ship, or any other place. With the power of you or your children’s imagination, you can create different scenarios and play different characters as you go.

You can throw in a few pillows, ribbons, or any other props you need to make it more realistic. With this, you and your kids can make playtime more imaginative by thinking up activities such as hosting a tea party, exploring the wilderness, or sailing the seas under the stars.

Ball Pit

A classic way that you and your family can use a trampoline is by making it a ball pit. If you don’t have those colourful balls, you can put in balloons or stuffed animals instead.

Jumping up and down inside a ball pit is a fun and heart-pumping activity that you and your kids can both enjoy. As you’re bouncing, you’re having a low-impact aerobic exercise session as well. It’s easy on the joints, it’s not hard to do, and it’s great for toning the leg and abdominal muscles too.

If you plan on having multiple jumpers on at once, make sure you choose a good trampoline to ensure everybody’s safety.

Art Canvas

Sidewalk chalk works great on a trampoline, making it an incredible canvas for your kids’ artwork. A trampoline’s jumping mat is smoother than the sidewalk so the chalk runs seamlessly on the surface. The colours appear more vibrant too, making those rainbows and flowers look more vivid than they do on the sidewalk.

Kids will really enjoy this if they want a more relaxed activity for the day. If you want another blank canvas, just wait for the rain or wash off the chalk yourself. Either way, it’s easy to remove and you can quickly go back to playtime.

Final Words

A trampoline is a worthy investment if you want to level up your family playtime. Aside from the creative games you can do with this piece of backyard equipment, you also reap a ton of benefits because it’s an effective workout, it improves motor skills and coordination, and it’s just good for you because it’s fun to do.  A trampoline is great for any age, and if you pick out a good one, you’re sure to have it for many years.
