There are a tonne of benefits to crafts for kids. Research shows that it can help brain development, and helps them to learn, to be creative and express themselves. It can help with problem solving and developing new skills. In a world where lots of kids (mine included) spend hours staring at screens, it is a great alternative which can engage them and be great fun.

My kids just love to craft.

They are always asking to get the contents of the craft box out when they get home from school.

Although I want to encourage them for all the reasons outlined above, I must admit that I am not always a fan because a. Crafting usually requires large amounts of parental input and b. It is messy. MESSY. And I don’t really enjoy the tidy up afterwards.

However Baker Ross crafts are neither of these. Their fabulous and reasonable ‘Craft It’ kids’ crafting kits are just the thing to keep the children busy and amused during a rainy day in Tier 3 lockdown (booooo).

Each self-contained craft kit contains everything your kids need to make a cute Christmas craft, without scissors or gluing and minimal mess making. They are all simple and self explanatory, and many can be made from start to finish without any help from an adult at all. Winner!

We were sent a fantastic Christmas craft bundle worth around £50, including DIY crackers and marker pens, hanging animal and snowflake decorations, pop up Christmas cards, some cheeky Santa and elf baubles and some Christmas Tree ceramic tea light holders to paint.

Most of the packaged craft sets contain everything you need to get going (although you might need pens for colouring in) to create a number of fun festive crafts.

What age are Baker Ross crafts suitable for?

Lots of the crafts are fantastic for preschoolers although they may need a little help to get going. The Winter Woodland Christmas Jumper Mix & Match Decoration Kits contains animal shapes and pre-cut foam stickers which can be put together easily to create cute creatures to hang on the Christmas tree and are perfect for younger kids.

If your children are a little older (5+) they will be able to rip the bags open and work it out by themselves; there are instructions to follow but they’re simple enough!

These Christmas baubles are quite similar and again really simple; peel off and affix the pre-cut foam stickers to the baubles supplied and make Father Christmas and elf baubles.

Other craft kits are suitable for older children; these painted ceramic Christmas tree ceramic tea light holders come in a box of three, and you can decorate them with as much or as little detail as you like.

I’ve put the date on the bottom so that we can get them out every Christmas!

NB this obviously involves getting out the acrylic paints, and can I suggest you don’t leave small children unsupervised because small children are sometimes a bit silly.

Price-wise, the craft kits strike me as really good value, starting at around £5 per pack of 4-8 crafts. They’re perfect for Christmas stockings, as presents for friends’ children, and as something to do over the impending Christmas holidays.
