What’s in the box?
In the box, you get a Eufy Robovac 30c Robot Vacuum, a charger, remote control (with batteries), four side brushes (two and two replacements), replacement filters, cable ties for getting cables under control, a cleaning tool, and boundary strips with adhesive tape. There is also an instruction manual.
How does the Eufy Robovac 30C robot vacuum cleaner work?
You get instructions, which you should read properly, but briefly…
To start, place the side brushes on to the pegs on the bottom as explained in the instruction manual, remove the packaging and stickers and turn the Robovac to ‘on’ using the on/off switch on the bottom.
Place the charger up against a wall, somewhere accessible and on an even surface, and plug it in. The Robovac has charging pins which connect to the base; place it front on towards the charger until it beeps at you and let it charge fully.
Meanwhile, download the Eufy Home app onto your smartphone and connect the Eufy Robovac to your home WiFi using the instructions. You can then control it remotely from your phone.
To empty the Robovac after each cleaning cycle, pinch down the blue button on the back and pull out, then empty into a bin.
OK, so why should you buy a Eufy Robovac 30C robot vacuum cleaner?
It’s a significant investment, with this model costing £269.99, but after several weeks of using the Eufy Robovac I can honestly say that I love it!
Here are ten reasons why:
1) It’s like living in the future
The Eufy Robovac 30C connects to WiFi and can be operated remotely by phone, Google Home or Alexa.
You can set it to run on a schedule and you won’t even have to physically bend down to turn it on! Just make sure you empty it between each clean.
2) It is very effective
Surprisingly so. The Eufy Robovac 30C has very good suction; with a capacity 0.6 litres it needs to be emptied after every cleaning cycle (even if you did it the day before) and you’ll be amazed how much it picks up, even off a ‘clean’ floor.
The Robovac 30C comes with a ‘BoostIQ’ feature which can automatically increase the suction if required; it’s a little noisier and power-intensive but great if you have different floor surfaces requiring different levels of suction.
I got into a routine of doing two cleaning cycles; one upstairs in the morning, and then another in the afternoon downstairs once the unit had fully re-charged, which doesn’t take very long. Once charged it runs for over an hour and a half which is sufficient to do a whole floor. This has kept the house looking much better than using the ‘big hoover’ whenever it needed to be done, and with little to no effort on my part.
3) If you have pets and/or kids, it’s a game changer
Our dog is short haired, and yet he still sheds a lot of fur. It never used to bother me, until I had kids and I was down on their level and realised how much of the stuff gets on the carpets – even with a regular vacuum.
The Robovac robot hoover makes light work of picking up shed dog hair, crumbs and general crud.
4) You can do something else with your time
You can control the Eufy Robovac 30C remotely via your phone app or Alexa, or the supplied remote control. Or you can just press go, and leave it to do its glorious thing.
I used to spend half an hour every other day hoovering the house, and then a longer one at the weekend and do upstairs too.
Have a bath, watch TV, do a fitness class or whatever you fancy other than vacuuming. Hurrah!
5) It’s easier on your back
Carrying our Miele vacuum cleaner upstairs and pushing it around on thick pile carpet is pretty bad for my back, which is rubbish anyway. For people that find pushing a vacuum cleaner around hard then a Eufy Robovac could be a life (or back) saver.
It’s light and easy to pick up and so I move it up and downstairs to do both floors.
6) It’s better for marital harmony
Because carrying the large cleaner upstairs and pushing it over thick pile carpet hurts my back, I do it as little as possible instead nagging my husband and getting increasingly annoyed until he finally gets around to it.
7) Your kids will have to learn to pick up their belongings
Lest their precious Sylvanian Families cutlery get sucked up.
It’s OK though – between you and I, when you empty it out, they’ll get it all back.
8) But they will love it
It’s quite fun to put a toy on top and then see if you can guide it around the room…. all the while, cleaning the floor. Even after a few weeks of use they still argue over who gets to press the on switch and who can use the remote. I’ve certainly never seen this level of enthusiasm over any other household chore.
9) It can be left unsupervised
If the Eufy Robovac gets stuck, it switches off so you don’t have to worry about the motors burning out.
It’s a clever little robot that doesn’t like bumping into things and anything solid, like furniture, will be avoided. It’s fairly good at getting itself out of tight spots, however occasionally it can get stuck on uneven floor, rugs or cables.
Once you’ve used it a few times, you get used to the idea of the kind of obstacles it can and can’t deal with and it is easy to prepare a room for being ‘Eufy-d’ – for instance picking up cables or placing cushions in the way.
It comes with magnetic strips which you can lay on hard flooring if there are places you don’t want it to explore, such as under the oven (pro tip – if you can’t see it, it doesn’t need cleaning. Find more of these wonderful cleaning hacks here), or for blocking off the stairs; although it has anti-drop sensors I really wouldn’t want to put it to the test, just in case.
You can do some jobs, or have a bath, or do anything you like really, safe in the knowledge that your house is being cleaned…
In fact, when he’s tired he’ll even take himself back to the charger.
10) It will improve your mood
I’m not joking; having cleaner floors just makes me happier, and knowing that’s one job ticked off the list helps enormously.
Can you ditch your vacuum cleaner for a Robovac?
OK, so you won’t be able to get rid of your vacuum cleaner altogether.
If you’re in a house with stairs, then you’ll need something for those, and for doing crevices and ceilings.
But day to day, you can trust it to get the majority of the dog hair and kiddie crumbs off the floor leaving the place generally tidier and you feeling much better about it all, with (did I mention?) LITTLE TO NO EFFORT on your part.
It would definitely suit you if you live in an open plan flat; a little handheld vacuum and the Eufy Robovac would be all you’d need.
It doesn’t even matter if you have a mixture of hard flooring, rugs and carpets; the Eufy Robovac 30C has no problems going between the two. The accessories can be bought cheaply and are easy enough to clean.
