I’ve worked on this post together with Rowan Langlery: Water filters are getting more and more popular by the day, which is incredible news for anyone that cares about living a healthy life.
If you are considering adding filtered water in your daily life and you want to ensure that your family and close friends are drinking clean water, we suggest you keep reading this article. In the following lines, we are going to talk about the benefit of filtered water and in what way you can help your body by consuming it.
Filtered water is extremely beneficial for you in the long term, because it:
Provides effective filtration of chemicals and pollutants
When you filter your water, you are removing harmful chemicals and pollutants like:
- Fluoride and chloride. These chemicals are usually used by water distributors to remove pollutants from tap water, and even though they work, they are not useful for the human organism. Thankfully, in most cities in our developed world, they use fluoride and chloride moderately and in quantities that are harmless for the human body. However, small amounts or not, these are still chemicals which in bigger amounts can be harmful to us. For example, water filters significantly reduce the risks of rectum cancer and bladder cancer by removing chloride, fluoride and their secondary impurities from drinking water. Above that, if you take long showers, dangerous amounts of fluoride and chloride can enter your body via your skin. And when it comes to taking a hot shower, inhaling fumes is also dangerous. But of course, as with any problem, there is a solution to this and it’s using a water filter.
- Arsenic. Depending on where you live, your tap water might contain high levels of arsenic. Arsenic is a potent carcinogen that has been linked to an increased risk of developing several different types of cancer.
- Aluminum. If the water in your area is unfiltered or poorly filtered, it can lead to increased consumption of aluminum, a metal that is associated with Alzheimer’s disease, hyperactivity, problems with the full growth of children, skin problems, liver disease and others.
Improves skin health
Drinking filtered water is very important for skin hydration. The cosmetics industry is growing every day: We try to help our skin look and feel better. On the other hand, we drink sugar and soda. Filtered water, especially when taken in sufficient quantities, is one of the best ways to improve the hydration and health of your skin, while saving unthinkable amounts of money due to the purchase of less makeup and cosmetics.
Enjoy much tastier dishes
Filtering the water in your household can significantly improve the taste of your dishes. Every top restaurant uses thoroughly purified water, as this affects both the quality of the food and its taste. We often forget that we not only drink tap water but also cook with it.
Of course, with cooking we often boil water and thus many contaminants such as chlorine and others evaporate. However, many of the other tap water contaminants remain. And in this way, we not only consume less healthy or unhealthy food but also ruin the taste of our homemade food. You can use a water filter to remove the harmful particles from your food.
Improve the health of your family
Drinking clean water is especially important for children, as water filters provide the healthiest water for any child’s immune system. As adults, we often close our eyes to some of the unhealthy things we do and consume daily. After all, we are adults. We make our own decisions. But this does not apply to our children.
A child’s body develops until the end of adolescence and drinking high-quality water is one of the best things we can do for their development, along with proper eating habits and exercise. If you have kid, you have taken on the responsibility of providing them with a good and healthy life. Consuming high-quality water is one of the easiest and best ways to fulfill that responsibility, and fortunately, you can do it with a little help from BOS.
Encourages drinking water
Having clean water at home could encourage people to drink more. By itself, this is one of the main advantages of filtered water, more than its many technical advantages. This is because without a water filter, we not only drink harmful water but subconsciously (or often consciously) we drink less water than we should.
The human body requires between 2 and 3 liters of water per day, depending on the person’s total weight. This amount is essential for our metabolism and overall health. It has been statistically shown that when we drink tasteless or odorless water, we tend to drink much less than we need, thus causing chronic dehydration and unhealthy body condition.
This is especially bad for children, as it both harms their still-developing organs and gives them the habit of avoiding water and drinking other harmful beverages – a habit that can persist in their adult lives and be detrimental for their future health.

Reduction of bottled water usage
- When we have filtered water at home, we “forget” about the existence of bottled water. Many people are careful not to replace water intake with carbonated beverages, and at the same time replace filtered tap water with bottled water, which is just not a very good substitute. Bottled water is a much unhealthier alternative to filtered tap water. The plastic that the water absorbs is enough (or at least it should be) to avoid bottled water.
- Drinking filtered water is very economical. And while this is not a “health benefit” in itself, as long as it saves us unnecessary costs, filtered water leaves us with enough money to take care of our health in many other ways.
We constantly complain about the price of gas and many other things, while at the same time we spend a crazy amount of money for water sealed in a thin plastic container for weeks and months. On average, bottled water is up to 1000 times more expensive than tap water.
It is great for the environment
Drinking filtered water has a positive effect on the environment. And while this is not a direct “health benefit”, maintaining a plastic-free environment has a significant beneficial effect on all of us.
We all know that a big reason why the air in large cities is getting harder and harder to breathe is the pollution emitted by the plastics and petrochemical industries, many of which are bottled water brands. The irony of it all is that we are increasingly polluting our natural water supplies with our waste, causing the need for increased filtration. Usually, with each passing year, the filter factories of bottled water brands must filter the said water from the pollutants, which they have invested in the previous years.
Conclusion
As you can see, filtering water at home is not just something you have to do for its taste. Having a quality water filter can dramatically improve your well-being and overall health in many different ways.
