Ditch your lockdown style: It’s time to make an impression

This is a collaborative post

No matter where you are in the world, COVID-19 has probably had you stuck at home for a couple of months. Whether you lost your job or have been working from your kitchen, chances are your usual sartorial elegance has now manifested to a messy bun, joggers and maybe the odd day in jeans to rush out and get the essentials. If you have managed to maintain the same dress code during the lockdown as you did in your office life, then you are one amazing person.

We’ve needed comfort.

It’s been really worrying times, and many of us have been kept away from the people that we love. So there is nothing wrong with taking the time out and being your most relaxed self while staying in the comfort of your own home. However, the lockdowns are starting to lift and very soon we will be back in the real world. So maybe it’s time you began to get back into the routine of dressing to impress!

It may even be the perfect time to try a new style. When we have significant changes in our lives, it can make us reconsider how we live our daily lives. Maybe you have always dressed elegantly, and now you want to add a little twist to your everyday outfits, nothing major but perhaps a flash of colour or some great accessories that will give you a little more glam to your day to day dress code. You see this is the perfect time to get bold and make an impression. We haven’t socialised for so long that if you get out there and look your very best, everyone will notice and you are going to feel more confident, happier and ready to take on anything.

Confidence is essential.

Especially if you lost your job or a relationship while you were in quarantine. You’ve had a few months at home to enjoy the misery, but now it’s time to enter the stage and shine like the star you are. This will attract new opportunities and help you to find a better job than you had before. It may also help your ex realise what he has been missing or, better still, it could attract the right kind of person into your life.

If you have confidence, then it shines out of you like a beacon of light and will draw lots of positive experiences to you. If you walk out into a new world feeling sad or looking like you haven’t made an effort, then you are going to draw negative people and negative situations. So, get into your wardrobe and start going through all of your clothes, working out what works and what doesn’t.

Most of us have an extensive collection of clothing that we have stopped wearing but kept ‘just in case’, but we tend to stick to just one or two combinations. So you probably won’t need to buy new outfits, get creative with your own. You could even revamp some old jeans. Maybe create an edgy new look by using bleach to tie dye your jeans and give them a distressed look, then wearing them with a plain white t-shirt and a little black jacket. This will provide you with a shabby chic style which will show people you are relaxed, confident and fun.

If you are used to dressing down, then maybe it’s time to start dressing up. Instead of heading out in a pair of trousers and a hoodie, why not find a pencil skirt and tight-fitting top, put on a pair of high heels and give your hair some extra volume. Throw on a pair of shades and use the highstreet as your catwalk. People will be obsessed with this new look and will help to boost your self-esteem and your mental health too.

When we make changes to the way we dress, we attract compliments as people really notice a difference. Even if you have only gone for a new hairstyle, it can have a massive impact on your overall look and make people sit up and take notice.

COVID-19 has given us all the opportunity to have a fresh start, and we should grab it with both hands. So use this time to ditch your lockdown looks and make an impression on the world. Hold your head high, walk out and socialise with a whole new attitude and a whole new look.
