Heroes of Goo Jit Zu are squishy, stretchy collectible characters from Character Toys.

Each of the seven series two Goo Jit Zu heroes with weapon-morphing arms has a different filling, which give them a different feel and texture to the other characters.

The Goo Jit Zu toys can be squished and squeezed, pulled and stretched up to three times their original size, and then they’ll shrink right back to their original form.

We were sent three series 2 Heroes of Goo Jit Zu characters to play with and review.

We already had a series one ‘Thrash’; a super stretchy, gooey, sparkly shark who you can pull apart and watch him slowly going back into his original shape, a bit like a stress ball!

From series two, we were sent red dragon Blazagon, the leader of the goodies whose arm morphs into a blade, elephantine Gigatusk (also a goody) who has a hammer, and four eyed, pincered Redback, who I am reliably informed by my five year old is a baddie.

Blazagon, as the leader, is filled with glitter and goo; although the filling isn’t as thick and he is more squishy and not as ‘solid’ as our series one Thrash.

Gigatusk is full of metallic effect (plastic) balls which bash together and give a crunchy sound when you squeeze him, and Redback is filled with spiders’ webs which you can only see through his red rubbery skin when you stretch him. He is super stretchy and ‘goopy’.

As mentioned, this is the second wave of Goo Jit Zu characters and this time they have a new features!

First off, their arms are weapons, and secondly they come with waster blaster action!

Unlike series one Heroes of Goo Kit Zu which had solid plastic heads, the characters in this series come with hollow heads.

Put them into a bowl of water and squeeze their head to fill them up, take them out and squeeze again to shoot a blast of water! They are perfect toys for a water fight in the garden this summer.

Apart from the new water blaster feature the new series are fairly similar, with the addition of some new characters.

However one thing of note is that the newer Goo Jit Zu characters have removable shorts/clothes which are also made from rubber; in the first series these were printed on, and the printing rubbed off quite easily when the toy was stretched.

The rubber clothes stretch with the toy, but they are actually separate and can be removed and even swapped around between characters. It’s definitely an improvement on the previous series.

As with every toy range these day, Heroes of Goo Jit Zu has a corresponding Youtube cartoon.

There are only a few episodes (available here) and honestly, it really isn’t awful and is quite a fun addition to the toys.

What did we think?

My son (5 years old) really liked the Heroes of Goo Jit Zu series and the toys, and has added them to his superhero collection. Personally I find squishing them (particularly the gooey ones!) very therapeutic too!
