Four steps to dressing a newborn baby boy in winter

This is a collaborative post: For new mothers, giving birth in the winter comes with lots of challenges. It becomes difficult to adequately and comfortably dress a newborn baby for the chilly weather. Dressing your baby boy in layers is the most effective way of keeping him warm in winter. Dress your newborn baby in footed boys pyjamas to keep him warm during the night.

Here are the top ways of how to dress your newborn baby boy during the winter season.

How to dress your newborn baby boy for indoors

  • Dress Your Baby in a Cotton Onesie. When dressing your baby for winter, always ensure the first layer is made of a porous material like cotton. Doing so allows moisture to get out, leaving your newborn warm and dry. It is advisable to dress your baby boy in a long-sleeved cotton onesie instead of a short-sleeved one to cover the baby’s body better.
  • Add Pants onto the Cotton onesie. You can dress your baby boy in pants to add one more layer that will confine warmth. Choose fleece pants that have waistbands, as this will prevent them from sliding off your baby’s body. Remember to buy extended pants that can cover your baby’s feet to keep them warm as well.
  • Add Another Layer of A Thin Sweater or Jacket. Because cotton onesies for babies are light, ensure you add another layer of a light sweater. Select a sweater that is made of cotton to keep your baby boy comfortable. In case your newborn feels too warm, remove a layer or two depending on the temperatures at that particular time.
  • Add Socks to the Outfit. When dressing your newborn in boys pyjamas, ensure you add a pair of socks to keep the baby’s feet warm. Remember to buy socks with some elastic bands so as they don’t slide off the feet.

How to dress your baby boy for the outdoors

  • Fasten Your New-born in A Baby Bunting for those Less Than 6 Months Old. Before you decide to take your newborn baby boy outdoors during winter, ensure you dress him in several layers. The moment you have dressed him in several layers, place him in baby bunting, and you are set to go outdoors with your baby.
  • Use a Warm Hat to Wrap Your Newborn baby’s Head and Ears. Select a hat that will extend and cover your baby’s ears. Check the hat’s inside and ensure it’s made of a soft fabric that will be comfortable for your baby boy. Select a hat with a strap and tie it below your newborn’s chin to prevent them from pulling it off.
  • Add Mittens on the Newborn’s Hands. Babies’ hands often get cold fast, especially when it’s winter! To keep your baby warm, put warm mittens on his hands. Remember to select mittens with elastic bands, and your baby can’t pull that off.
  • Dress Your Baby in Boots. Start with dressing your newborn’s feet in warm socks and then put his boots on. The shoes will protect your baby boy from too much cold during the winter.

Whether it’s cold or hot, dressing your newborn baby is all about making him/her comfortable. Always dress your baby in layers to ensure he remains warm when indoors or outdoors.
