Little anime and manga fans finally have the chance to play and battle with their favourite Dragon Ball figures, with Bandai’s new range of Dragon Ball action figures for kids aged 4+.
Anime and Manga might have started out as intended for teens and adults but during lockdown, my five year seriously caught the Pokémon bug and we’ve been watching it on a loop. We have started to look at different child-friendly Manga and Anime series to expand his horizons.
We were sent a selection of Dragon Ball action figures to review!
Dragon Ball is something we stumbled across on Netflix, and although the programmes are a little adult in nature and therefore probably more suited to children aged ten and over, Bandai have released a brand new range of Dragon Ball licensed action figures released which are suitable for children as young as 4.
Dragon Ball Limit Breaker 30cm figures

The Limit Breaker figures are big chunky, hollow figures measuring 30cm (33cm in the case of the Super Saiyan Broly). They have points of articulation on their arms, wrists, legs and neck so they can be posed and stood upright.
We got the large Broly figure, and also Blue Goku.

Other characters available include Vegeta, Gohan, and Frieza.
They’re intended for children aged 4+ so are really chunky and have no small parts, but with the Dragon Ball spiky hair they could potentially hurt if used as a weapon against siblings. They are however hollow, so quite light, and will probably stand up to a lot of battling!
The Limit Breaker figures have an RRP of £14.99/Broly has an RRP of £19.99.

Dragon Ball Dragon Stars 17cm figures
We were also sent a ‘Dragon Stars’ series 17cm Vegeta.
These figures are much more detailed and have more points of articulation than the Limit Breaker figures. They are fully poseable with joints on the legs, knees, ankles, shoulders, upper arm elbows, wrists, waist and neck – according to Bandai, they can be posed in 9000 different ways.

They’re also made of softer plastic and good for little hands.
The figures come with an extra set of hands or accessories which snap on and off. Our Vegeta also has a tail which is removeable and the ball-jointed limbs are also easy to remove and put back on.
The Dragon Stars figures have an RRP of £19.99 and they’re suitable for ages 4+. The range includes popular figures from the show including Goku, Vegeta, Gogeta, Gohan, Bardock, Piccolo, Broly, and Krillin.

Dragon Ball Dragon Evolve 5 inch figures
Finally, we got a 5 inch Dragon Evolve Goku figure.

Although the smallest of the action figures, this one also has loads of ball joints and ways to pose; even more so than the Dragon Stars figures.
These ones have an RRP of £9.99 so are a good pocket money buy.

Dragon Ball fancy dress!
We also got this a brilliant fancy dress outfit complete with Dragon Ball anime style wig and tail, so my son can be a (super cute) Son Goku and practice his own Super Saiyan moves at home.

The costume is available in size S (from 110cm) to L (up to 140cm) and costs £29.99.
Also available are Super Collectable figures (RRP: £2.99, ages 6+) which are available in surprise mini bags. There are 10 Dragon Ball Super characters to collect, plus a stand inside to display your Dragon Ball figure. You can sneak a peek at them over on The Brick Castle.
You can see the whole range of Dragon Ball toys at Smyth’s Toys.
They can also be bought on Amazon.
