Perhaps you’ve picked the venue, you’ve set the date and got THE dress. The invites have gone out. The cake has been ordered. You may have the wedding rings safely stored away for the big day. Now it’s time to start looking at the finishing touches which will make your day truly special!
Here are some ideas for accessorising your wedding look.
Get the right shoes
Make sure you consider how tall your heels will be, as your wedding dress will need to be altered to fit your height perfectly.
But which shoes will you pick? Always fancied a pair of Laboutins? Well, it is your wedding day, why not?! But, that said, you should also consider comfort because unless you’re popping off to change before the reception, you will you be wearing these shoes all day – and you don’t want to have aching feet on the dancefloor.
It’s tempting to go for killer heels but it isn’t a great idea if you are not used to it – there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable all day, or worse still, tripping up the aisle!
If your wedding dress is ivory, then going for colourful shoes underneath can be a great look for a bride who wants a more individual look.
Add the perfect jewellery
If ever there was an excuse to splash the cash on jewellery, your wedding day is certainly one!
Jewellery is a subtle way to add a little glamour to your look. Ideally, any jewellery would match or complement your wedding and engagement rings. So for example, if your wedding bands are plain gold or white gold, then sparkly diamond earrings and a bling necklace in the same precious metal look fabulous.
If your rings are a bit flashier, for example moissanite rings, then you can tone it down with simple studs, or go nuts with gems and diamonds – it’s your wedding!
Decide on your headwear
Will you go for a traditional veil, or perhaps a 20s style hair piece? A tiara, maybe? There are so many options to complete your wedding look.
Don’t fancy a veil? Why not go for a flower crown. Veils are a tradition dating back centuries but they aren’t for everybody. Flower crowns are beautiful alternative for any bride getting married in the 2020s.
They’re a very popular choice for ‘boho’ style weddings and look fabulous paired with simple 70s style wedding dresses, but even with a more traditional style wedding dress they can perfect the look. Use real flowers if you like, but fake flowers are a lot easier to work with – or you can buy one already made.
Think about your hair and make up
Will you go for the classic up do – which has the benefit of looking fabulous all day if it is held properly in place – or do you want your hair loose and natural?
Whatever look you’re going for, ensure that you book a trial run with your hairdresser so that you can get the look you’ve always wanted. The right hairdresser should be able to help you choose something that matches your dress and your personal sense of style, but will also make sure that whatever look you go for that it lasts all day.
Many brides are happy to do their own make up these days, but a makeup artist can work wonders to make you look like the best version of you on your big day. Again, it’s very important to have a trial; you definitely don’t want to look overdone, or like someone else entirely!
