Although she still loves playing with her fashion dolls, it’s probably fair to say that my seven year old enjoys spending as much time as she’s allowed on YouTube watching videos of guinea pigs escaping from mazes, other children making slime or bathbombs (and a huge mess), and kids friendly hair and make up transformations.
Instaglam Glo-up Girls Dolls have taken this last trend and brought out four different fashion dolls who come dressed in their PJs and go through a glamorous ‘Glow up’ makeover. Aimed at kids ages 6+, the box claims it contains 25 fashion surprises to transform your doll from wake up to make up.
We went to Smyths Toy Store in Maidstone where we bought Tiffany, one of the four available Glo-Up Girl Doll characters, with rose gold hair and a cool casual outfit.
What is inside a Instaglam Glo-Up Girl Dolls box?
Inside the box you get a doll of your choice who is dressed in her PJs and sleep mask, all ready for her makeover. There is a little plastic basin which you fill with water to assist her spa transformation
There are also six surprise packages which you open up to help her get ready, these are revealed to the side of the box, which opens up and re-closes again with velcro.

The first package contains a little round pill which you drop into water and expands to make two facemasks; one for you (which is slightly terrifying; see below) and one for your doll. Take off her sleep mask and pop the smaller mask on your doll’s face. It makes her face wet, which will help you to reveal her make up.
Next, there is a little pink tablet – like a bath bomb – which you put into water. The tablet fizzes away to reveal a make up brush. Use the brush on her face to get rid of any remaining paint and reveal her glamorous make up look.
Putting her hands and feet into cold water in the basin will change her nails to a surprise colour. Tiffany’s turned green to match her PJs!
Inside the other boxes and gifts, which have fun glittery packaging, you can unwrap her a brand new outfit including jeans, top, shoes, bag, bracelet and earrings to complete her transformation. You can also put her back in her PJs so once she has had her Glow Up, you will have a fashion doll with two outfits to play with.
Other features of Instaglam Glo-Up Girl Dolls
The dolls are fully poseable, articulated at the hips, ankles, shoulders, elbows and wrists as well as the neck.
They are roughly the same size as other fashion dolls with slightly more realistic proportions that most, although they do fit in some of our existing dresses. The hair is long and brushable, however a brush is not among the accessories provided with the doll.
