This is a collaborative post: With restrictions gradually being lifted and the weather seemingly starting to improve for summer, the UK has been enjoying being able to socialise and shop again. Beer gardens in particular have never been so busy, with people turning up even after the sun goes down. As punters are starting to emerge from their lockdown hibernation, it’s time to replenish your clothing collection as everyone hunts for that perfect outfit.
Whispering Smith give their advice on some of the best pieces to include in your women’s collection for the beer garden.
Midi dresses
A midi dress is the perfect balance to tackle the British weather, with a summery feel but longer length to accommodate any changes in breeze or temperature. Look for eye-catching details such as floral prints and frilly sleeves to add some extra style to your collection.
Colours like lilac, sage green and yellow are perfect for the upcoming months, reflecting the change in weather and saying goodbye to the winter chill. What’s more, the length of a midi dress means it will still be visible underneath a jacket which is great for maintaining a stylish look.
Overshirts
When it comes to dining or drinking outside, layers are key especially as day turns to night. An overshirt, or shacket, has become an increasingly popular style for adding that extra layer without compromising on style. Checked and cargo designs in particular are a great choice, worn over a t-shirt or bodysuit for a casual but warm outfit.
Overshirts can easily be styled over dresses too, making them a very versatile design for when you need a layer you can take on and off in line with the temperature.
Distressed jeans
Denim is a year-round staple and it wouldn’t be a British summer without a pair of trusty jeans. Give your denim collection a summer makeover with distressed detailing, including frayed hems and ripped knees. Easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion, distressed jeans look great with a simple t-shirt and leather jacket, or with a blouse and heels.
Stick to light coloured denim for this time of year, including light blue, white or pastel shades which will look just the part in a summery beer garden.
Knitwear
Lightweight knitwear is great for creating an extra layer between your choice of top and jacket, just in case the breeze decides to pick up. Cardigans have come back into style and are a perfect addition to your collection, either short or long in length.
Similarly, jumpers and sweatshirts are a great choice for a casual look and can be worn over almost everything in your collection. It might nearly be summer, but knitwear never goes amiss in the UK!
Jumpsuit
For a great alternative to a dress, jumpsuits are a beautiful choice that can look very dressy or casual depending on how you style them. Pair with a leather jacket and pair of trainers and you have the ultimate beer garden outfit, or team with heels and a blazer for an evening look.
With short or long sleeved styles to choose from, as well as fitted or wide leg, there’s something to suit any occasion when you choose a jumpsuit.
