If you thought you were juggling way too many things in your 20s, you’ve probably noticed how wrong you were now that you are a mum. Being a mother is beautiful and you love your kids, but sometimes there isn’t just enough time for you and for your exercising. However, that’s not impossible and there are ways to squeeze in some exercising in your already busy schedule. Once you manage to get that done, you will feel much better about juggling, because exercising will help you get rid off all that tension and negative energy.
Workout in the Morning
Many mums get up earlier so they can have a few minutes of peace and quiet for their morning coffee and relax a bit before the hectic day starts. If this is you, then you may want to consider getting up just 20 minutes earlier in order to squeeze in a quick workout before or after your coffee. Plus, exercising in the morning is a great way to get your blood moving and summon the energy and freshness for the entire day, and you will feel more grounded and accomplished right off the bat. So, make your morning exercise plan, it can be anything from yoga to bodyweight routines and get a fresh start.
Get some Key Equipment Pieces
Sometimes, getting to the gym is impossible, as well as keeping up with those schedules. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t work out at home, and you just need a few pieces of equipment for that. Plus, it will much easier to workout at home, since you don’t have to “waste” time on commuting. When it comes to equipment, you don’t need anything too expensive or complicated. Start by treating yourself with comfortable gym clothes and some nice workout sneakers, and you can find it here. Then, get some resistance bands that you can use in a variety of ways, maybe get a stability ball which is great for exercising and stretching and some medium and heavy dumbbells. Also, don’t forget about a nice yoga mat for stretching and a bit of yoga and you are all set. What is more, all of these are easy to store anywhere, so they won’t take up too much space in your house.
Include Your Kids
You have probably noticed this, but kids love moving around and having fun. Also, if they see you exercising, chances are big that they would like to join you. So, instead of letting them watch TV or do something else while you’re working out, include them! Depending on their age, you can give them some simpler exercises to do, if yours are a bit advanced for their age and let them have fun just like mommy. They can hold a pushup position, do some sit ups with you or let them ride their bike while you are going for a jog. Physical activity is great for both of you and kids who start exercising young are less susceptible to diseases later in life and are generally happier and healthier, so do some workouts together.
Find Some Support
If you don’t like exercising alone, you can easily find like-minded people around you. You can ask your partner to join you while exercising at home, if you have the time going to the gym or yoga classes can provide you with some great people to support you and work out together. All you have to do is mingle a bit at the gym or similar places and see who shares the same passion. Maybe even some Mum groups on social media can help you find a fellow mum that would like to work out together with you and have some fun.
Physical activity is important for everyone, and as a busy mum, you may need a bit more effort to squeeze the exercises in your busy schedule. But, it’s not impossible, you may have to improvise a bit, but you should make sure to stay healthy and fit and you will be more energised and happier.
