This is a collaborative post: Whether your next short break is with your family, a romantic getaway, or simply so you can get some fresh countryside air with your pooch, this article will explain some of the best locations for your spring breaks UK.
The UK has some of the most beautiful sights to offer, and by choosing the perfect location, you can have an incredible short break. Keep reading to find out our top five favourite locations…
St Ives, Cornwall
This idyllic location is one of the more popular places to visit, it may be all the way down south but it’s well worth the visit. In this beautiful Cornish town you could visit a gorgeous garden one day, a gallery or museum the next, or perhaps something a little more active – surf schools, boat trips, cliff top walking, cycling… take your pick.
Or, if history and heritage is more your thing, you’ll love the historic houses, castles and museums. If you have a dog with you, or even young children, there are plenty of activities which are suitable for younger children and your pooch!
Sandy Balls, the New Forest
This location is in the heart of the forest, where you can immerse yourself in nature and all the beauty around you. There are a range of activities you can explore, such as meeting resident alpacas, or hopping aboard a Segway and zipping through the holiday park.
In the forest you can escape to ancient woodlands, open moors and wild heathland, making this the perfect place for any families or couples that love walking. Don’t forget to bring your four-legged friend!
Lincolnshire
Being the biggest county in the UK, there is a lot to offer in Lincolnshire! You could visit Tattershall Lakes, where you can walk the 5.1-km circular trail near Woodhall Spa. It takes about an hour to complete and is great for hiking, mountain biking, and running, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. So, if you like peace and quiet, maybe a trip to Lincolnshire is the perfect place for your short break!
Scotland
Scotland has some of the most breath-taking views in the UK – you genuinely feel as though you are on top of the world! Not only are there national parks and nature reserves to visit, but the real beauty lies in the Scottish Hills, where you are surrounded by the natural mountains and the fresh, clean air.
If you’re one for walking, Scotland is definitely a place to consider for your next trip. You can park your car in a local carpark and set off on your adventure with a backpack filled with a warm flask, sandwiches and a rain mac! The quiet hills will provide you with a clear mind and a positive attitude, whilst being surrounded by the incredible nature.
Mersey Island, Essex
If you fancied taking your family for a beach getaway, this is the place for you! Mersey Island is home to multiple water sports facilities, so your children can have fun splashing away in the sea. Or, if you wanted to all head out to sea, the locally owned boat Lady Grace runs a regular boat trip around the harbour from the Causeway Jetty on Coast Road.
If you’re a fitness fanatic and like to work out whilst you’re away, why not join in with Mersea Boot camps, which take place several times a week. The sessions are sure to get your heart racing and leave you feeling as fit as a fiddle!
