Baby wipes

Ten uses for baby wipes

This is a collaborative post

This morning, I cleaned my entire bathroom floor with baby wipes.

I had hoovered that morning, but there were little dusty bits in the corners that wouldn’t shift and they were there taunting me while I was having a wee, so before you know it, rather than going downstairs and retrieving more traditional cleaning apparatus, the bathroom floor was dust-free, shiny and smelling of Pampers sensitive (which don’t smell of much at all really). I mean, I wouldn’t lick it (I don’t generally do this a lot) but it looked alright.

That’s not as impressive as it sounds because I don’t have a very big bathroom, but it has still made me think.

What the hell did people do before baby wipes?

I have compiled a list of my top ten uses for baby wipes.

Please feel free to add your own!

1. Take off the day’s/last night’s make-up

Standard. If it’s good enough for a baby’s bum it’s good enough for my far less precious, soft or supple face.

2. Clean up spills and puke from the carpet

Don’t judge until you’ve had a reflux baby. I have a carpet cleaner but it scares the children and it takes effort. You’d be amazed what a baby wipe can deal with.

3. Wipe down surfaces

For appearances only you understand, primarily crumb removal and cleaning restaurant floors of debris. I’d still get out the antibac if I was going to chop veg, I’m not a monster.

4. Get dust off skirting boards

…Car dashboards and basically anything else. Dusting with a duster is for losers.

5. Clean up shoes

OK I’m not entirely proud of this one but it does work.

6. Mop sick, food and other small stains from clothing

Much easier than getting up, going into the kitchen and retrieving a damp cloth. I have baby wipes on hand in every room of the house.

7. Get fox crap off of the dog

He does love rolling in poo. Jerk. If it’s too cold for a hosing down outside, then baby wipes it must be.

8. Have a wash whilst camping

Or you know, just feeling a bit lazy. What?

9. Wipe babies’ fingers, faces and bums

It had to feature on here somewhere. Honestly, a wet cloth is nowhere near as effective, and then you have to wash it.

10. Use as a small white flag to wave to surrender to your baby as he screams/covers you in poo/pukes continuously and you just can’t take it any more

Aaaah.

  1. I can't imagine how I survived before I had a reason to buy baby wipes. They are just the best things ever. Always have a pack in the car in place of wet wipes or moist towelettes. Thanks for sharing #PassTheSauce

  2. Michelle Peacock

The list of things you can use baby wipes for is actually endless, I'm not sure what state my house and/or The Peachicks would be in if we hadn't had them to hand! Although hubby laughed at me for using them to wipe the oil dipstick thingy in my car…

  3. Whinge Whinge Wine

Absolutely! When I remember that skirting boards exist this is exactly how I do mine.

  4. justsayingmum.com

Ha ha – no babies in this house (they're 16,14&12) but I still have baby wipes – say no more! #passthesauce

  5. Double the Monkey Business

They are a lifesaver! When we were out for our works christmas do, someone spilt a drink. I proudly produced a packet of wipes (why I had taken them on my night out god only knows!) to clean it up. This was met with much hilarity from my co-workers. That said they were grateful that 'Super Wipe Lady' had come to the rescue lol! x #PasstheSauce

  6. I agree with all of these! My first baby had reflux badly and she threw up every feed all the time – you have no idea how excited I was the first time I discovered that baby wipes are actually pretty damn effective at getting milk puke off clothes! It saved a lot of changes for her & me!

They're also an excellent toy – I give them to my kids in cafes and it keeps them happy for ages cleaning the table and stuff. But that may just be my kids – easily amused!

Thank you so much for linking up with #PasstheSauce

  7. Mindfully Mummy

Baby wipes are great aren't they? I use them for wiping shoes too! Also, bizarrely they're great for wiping grease from roasting tins/baking trays. Who'd have thought! #bigpinklink

  8. Kim Carberry

I use baby wipes for everything. They are so useful! I really don't know how I survived before I had kids and started buying them. lol

  9. this is an excellent list. Baby wipes' uses are endless; Mother is always stealing mine to wipe her panda eyes when she runs out of make up remover x #bigpinklink

  10. Nursery Whines

I have used baby wipes for all these things except cleaning the dog as I don't have one. But I have also used them to remove dog mess from my pram wheels, so there is another use for you. #Chucklemums

  11. Gretel - @gretelingham

I have also used them for all of these things and also for getting any kind of crap off anything.
Also, I'm a scout, so they are a must have for the camp washing kit, because there aren't any showers out here in the woods and I'm buggered if I'm getting into a freezing cold lake to 'freshen up' at 6am. No thank you. #chucklemums

  12. Rhyming With Wine

There is not a single surface (or living being) in our house that has not been baby wiped to within an inch of its life! I have often considered swapping a limb for a baby wipe. It would possibly be more useful! Brilliant! x #chucklemums

  13. DaisLikeThese

I have totally done all 10! Including the fox poo!!
I also have antibacterial wipes but to be fair, they're just glorified wet wipes aren't they?
    #chucklemums

  14. Life is Knutts

Haha!!! Amazing, and apart from the dog one as we don't have a pooch, i've done them all! Fabulous.
Cheaper than cleaning wipes too! #win!
    #chucklemums

  15. Turning Up In Devon

Wet wipes can get anything off the carpet! My kids traipsed mud in on my Mum's new 'beige' carpet and I totally freaked but the trusty old wet wipe actually saved my ass!!! Love a wet wipe to wipe down my dusty car dashboard and the clammy steering wheel! #chucklemums

  16. This is so true! I dont know what I did before I had baby wipes. They are so much better than paper towels. I pretty much always have them in my purse now. I hadnt thought about shoes but it sounds more efficient than what I have been usung. Great ideas #bigpinklink

  17. andanothertenthings

I had a reflux baby abs totally swear by them to clean carpets. Also good to clean up random banana stains off black trousers when you've got to go to work and can't be bothered to change.

  18. nipperandtyke

I have NEVER used baby wipes in place of a shower and I resent the implication!
    Well, maybe once or twice.

  19. Sarah and Louise Mums The Word

LOVE a baby wipe. Glad it's not just me, now I can be at peace with my guilty cleaning secret.. thank you #Chucklemums

  20. Threesypeasy

Great uses for baby wipes and have used them all! Oh the fox crap – our dog does it all the time and yes baby wipe every time to clean him! I've always got a pack handy when decorating – great for stray emultion! Complete agree – what would we do without them xx #chucklemums

  21. Whinge Whinge Wine

Fortunately not too much dog's mess around here. I'd be livid if that was me. Still, wipes to the rescue!

  22. Whinge Whinge Wine

Well, I guess they're antibacterial… But who cares if there is bacteria on your pram wheels, or floor. I don't lick mine…

  23. Whinge Whinge Wine

I forgot to take them out with me today and had to use paper towels to clean up after a two kid meal in a restaurant. They are certainly more effective!

  24. Down the rabbit hole, stumbled onto this list….

    11. Clean a motorbike. No, seriously, they’re exellent and consequently you don;t need a hosepipe or buckets of water, which is ideal in winter when getting wet is about as appealling as, well, getting wet in winter. Drawbacks: you do tend to use a lot of them.
