This is a collaborative post: Sometimes it can seem as though you don’t have enough time for those family chill out days. Days where you stay in all day in your comfiest clothes, making some home comfort food, and doing nothing but spending some quality family time together.
Well, you might have felt like you had your quota for family time during lockdown, you were no doubt stuck in the house all day long together. But that was different, that was forced. Plus, you might have gone out of your mind because family time was all you had, so it became more of a nightmare than a chilled out time.
We know that life has gotten so busy now and it might feel as though it’s hard to slow down, so why not bring back that family chill day. A perfect Sunday, or perhaps a lazy Friday night! Just a day where you’re doing nothing but being lazy as a family. We’re going to show you how you can take it to the extreme! Keep on reading to find out more.
Setting The Scene
The first thing you’re going to need to do is create an area where you can all relax together. It’s no use having a family night if you’re going to stay in separate rooms! So you need to create a living room worthy of your chill out day, and we’d start by bringing a double mattress downstairs and a ton of blankets and creating a fort. There’s nothing more exciting to do in the home as a child than to build an indoor fort, and we know it’ll bring your inner child out as well! Plus, it just sets the scene for a perfect lazy day, it doesn’t get more lazy than bringing a mattress downstairs so you don’t have to move all day! You could even snazz it up and get some fairy lights to put around the room to make it look and feel truly magical.
Movie Madness
Now you want to think about keeping yourselves entertained all day, and we think the best way of doing so is to have a movie marathon, how long has it been since you had one of those?! You could go for old classics such as James Bond, but which Bond film was the best? If your kids are not old enough for the bond films you could go down a Disney route. You might find yourself having a day filled with films you didn’t want to watch, but the whole vibe of the day will make up for that!
Fun, Fun, And More Fun!
Finally, make it filled with fun! If you know your kids won’t sit through a movie marathon you could try a board games day, or console gaming, or family activities in the garden. There are so many ways that you can spend entire days together just relaxing and being a family, it doesn’t have to be in front of a TV. If you want the best success for the day it’s best to ask your kids what their ideal day would be!
