We were asked to choose and review a dress from the new David Charles Childrenswear Autumn/Winter 2018 range.

My little budding princess couldn’t wait to have something very special to make her sparkle on her 5th birthday!

She chose a beautiful light blue and gold floral brocade party gown. One of the more simple designs from the Autumn/Winter 2018 David Charles collection, but beautiful none the less, the baby blue and gold flowers are embroidered on a thin sheer cream material and then layered over a thicker blue material.

It is dainty and perfect for a party or even a wedding.

The dress has cap sleeves and a velvet ribbon-belted waist with a sparkling gold and blue brooch sewn onto it.

The gown has an inverted pleated skirt at the front and back.

Underneath, there is an attached net underskirt to give it a flared silhouette which is perfect for twirling like a princess!

It has a concealed zip in the back. The whole dress is lined and feels fairly heavy.

I ordered it in age 6, which was a good decision as it means it has growing room because she is big for her age. Based on the fit of this dress, I would say they come up true to size and it’s worth erring on the side of caution and going a little bigger.

This David Charles Childrenswear dress is not designed to go through the washing machine; be aware that it needs to be hand washed in cool water or dry cleaned only.

With that in mind we won’t be letting her wear it to her pizza-making birthday party but she has already worn it to a family party where it drew admiring comments from everyone!

The retail price of this dress is £216 which I’ll be honest, is well outside of our normal price range especially for something she will only wear on very special occasions. I only spent half of that on my own wedding dress.

However David Charles Childrenswear has a special offers page where you can purchase dresses and accessories for well below their initial retail price.

With beautiful dresses starting at under £50, it is definitely worth a look, even if you’re not royalty, if you are looking for a good quality designer dress for a flower girl, a family wedding, party or other very special occasion.
