Autumn is well and truly here, and to me that means one thing… Time for the winter wardrobe!
I love the warm, don’t get me wrong. Spring and summer definitely win for me over the dark evenings and damp days of autumn, but the part of autumn I do love is putting away my sandals and summer dresses, and getting out the winter boots, knitwear and coats.
This year I’ve been lucky to be treated to a brand new outfit from Fashion World.
Pretty exciting as the majority of my clothes are bought out of necessity and alongside the food shop.
I thought I’d get something new to wear for my birthday meal this weekend.
I started off with a new jacket.
Everywhere will tell you at the moment that leather is on trend for Autumn/Winter 2018. A leather dress might be a bit OTT for the school run, but a leather jacket never really goes out of style.
I left my last one in a restaurant in Greece 9 years ago, so I thought a new one would be nice!
A new leather jacket would of course set you back several hundred pounds, but luckily there are fab (and much cheaper) faux leather alternatives.
I chose this faux leather biker jacket.
At £45 it’s a bargain; soft and tactile, and not ‘plasticy’. It comes up true to size (this is a 14). You could wear it with a jumper underneath once the weather gets cooler and it will last into spring.
You can see all the coats stocked by Fashion World on their website.
To go with my new jacket, I picked a few matching monochrome pieces which I thought would see me through the autumn. I do love autumnal colours but there is always a place in my wardrobe for black and white!
Clarks ‘Maypearl Fawn’ black suede ankle boots
I LOVE these Clarks ankle boots. They are made of suede leather, are ridiculously comfortable and go with pretty much everything. The heel is perfect – I trip over myself a lot but these are great. I’ve worn them all day without so much as a blister.
They have a little bit of detailing to set them apart from plain ankle boots without being too fussy. They are perfect to wear with skinny jeans or a skirt and woolly tights on a chilly autumnal day.
At £75 they’re the perfect investment for your autumn/winter 2018 wardrobe.
I also got this Simply Be spotty mock wrap mini dress.
Simply Be make some lovely clothes starting in a size 12 all the way up to a 32. This spotty black and white print dress came up true to size, perhaps even a little bigger than expected.
I particularly like the sleeves which are loose and gathered at the end. The waist has a tie so you can adjust it. It actually has a clasp so it doesn’t gape open which I like, as I usually add safety pins to the neckline of wrap dresses.
Just to be sure I always wear a camisole (like this one) underneath. A camisole also helps to smooth out lumps and bumps and keeps you warm as the dress is made of very light material.
I love the length. It isn’t too short which I often find to be a problem and I would wear with tights or leggings. If a minidress isn’t your thing, it’s available as a longer midi. Good for day time or evening, I like the print; it’s not too bold without being boring.
At £25, it’s a bargain.
I was gifted these items for free in return for this post, however the pictures and words are my own.
