Slow rising squishies are a huge playground trend at the moment and Smooshy Mushy slow rise squishy foam pets from Bandai are ridiculously popular.
If you’ve not come across squishies before, then cast your memory back to the foam stress balls of the 90s. They’re very similar, except that rather than being shaped like a tennis ball, these ones are cute little collectible animals and they smell great!
We were sent some of the brand new Series 3 Smooshy Mushy Creamery Core Pets to review.
This series, Smooshy Mushy pets come inside ice cream cones.
Once you’ve picked your favourite colour of ice cream, and taken a pair of scissors to the shrink wrap, you open it up by unscrewing the lid.
Take out your new sweetly scented Smooshy Mushy pet, their little bestie (a miniature dessert-shaped squishy), a name tag, a character sticker, and a mini ice cream containing two keychains as well as a collector’s list with the names of the pets and their besties. Both the small and large ice creams can be used to store the contents after it’s been opened.
You can find the list of Smooshy Mushy collectibles here on the Smooshy Mushy website.
We got Faye Froggy and Wendy Wafer…
And Rose Rabbit and Sara Sundae.
There are also Penny Penguin and Sunny Sundae, Mimi Monkey and Robyn Rainbow, rare Colby Corgi and Chilla Vanilla and ultra rare Lola Leopard and Mikki Mochi to collect.
The Smooshy Mushy pets have a lovely scent.
They are great fun to squeeze, although like any foam squishy they will start to crack after a while or if they’re twisted.
If your children are under the recommended age of 6 then make sure you supervise or they could easily tear the Smooshy Mushy apart and ingest small pieces.
My kids love their Smooshy Mushy Series 3 Creamery pets!
I am sure I will get nagged for more if they happen to see them in shops, but being honest I’d be a little hesitant to buy them more now should they get a double. Since there are only eight to collect including six common pets and two rare ones, the odds of getting a different pair aren’t hugely stacked in our favour.
With an RRP of £9.99 each you do get a lot in the ice cream package and compared to similar squishy toys it’s not a bad price, but the chance of getting a duplicate is quite high!
However as a one-off, they’re definitely a winner; fun to open, fun to play with, cute and lovely to sniff! I’ll definitely consider them for the next round of birthdays as I suspect my daughter’s friends would love them too.
We received these Smooshy Mushy Creamery pets free for the purposes of this review but words and pictures are my own.
