I’m sure that most people would like to exercise on a more regular basis, but it seems that life gets in the way far too often. However, every problem has a solution and it is these that we are going to be focusing on in this article. Half of the battle when it comes to exercising is motivating yourself and overcoming the barriers that you put up in your mind. So, let’s try to give you a helping hand in beating common exercise excuses.

Excuse One: “I Don’t Have the Time”

This is probably the most common one. Squeezing exercise into a busy schedule is challenging but it can be done. First of all, you could create some more time for yourself by getting up a little earlier every morning. Perhaps you could even fit in a quick workout into your lunch hour. Otherwise, why not try multitasking by doing some simple exercises while you are in front of the TV or waiting for the kettle to boil.

Excuse Two: “I’m Too Tired”

Exercising actually helps to give you more energy, so bear this in mind before you say that you’re too tired to work out. Physical activity helps to boost your body’s production of hormones and it also gets your blood circulating around your body. Try to get your exercising done early if possible. Excuse Three: “I Don’t Get a Break from the Kids”  

If you never seem to get a break from the kids during the day, get outside when you can and do some exercise then. There are all kinds of exercises and sports that you can enjoy as a family. Go out for a bike ride, kick a soccer ball around your back garden or simply go for a stroll around your neighbourhood. Getting your kids active from an early age gives them the foundations that they need to be healthier when they are older.

Excuse Four: “Exercise Bores Me”

Everyone is different, and an activity that one person finds invigorating will bore another person to tears. If you hate the gym, try taking up a new sport like badminton, squash or ice skating. Enlist a close friend or two and you can make it a social event. There is bound to be one form of moving your body that you can get passionate about!

Excuse Five: “I’ve Never Done it Before”

For some people, exercise simply isn’t a part of their lives. If you are one of them, it’s never too late to start. Set yourself some small and realistic goals to start off with. Join forces with an active friend or family member and they can show you the ropes.
