Adventure Avenue is a brand new addition to The Martlets Shopping Centre, Burgess Hill. It is officially opening today and along with my blogging pals Katie and Lisa (and their children!) we were invited along for a sneak preview!
Adventure Avenue in Burgess Hill is ‘A place where kids can feel free to express their individuality through role play’.
A brilliant alternative to soft play, Adventure Avenue Burgess Hill is similar in concept to Little Street in Maidstone which we have visited on a number of occasions.
We love it because the kids can go nuts playing…and then somebody else does all the tidying up for you.
Inside the old electricity shop-turned-play centre, there are 12 small areas each divided with a ‘wall’. They have different themes; a launderette, fire engine, post office, doctors, vet, supermarket, bakery, nursery, construction site, dressing up area with mirrors, hair & beauty salon, campsite and a small sensory room with activity board.
When we visited, they were still putting the finishing touches to it in advance of opening day, but the play equipment was in place and the kids got stuck straight in!
There is also a large cafe area with ample seating, where parents can sit if their children are off enjoying themselves. There are no barriers between the play area and the cafe seating. Although the serving hatch wasn’t in operation yet, they will be offering refreshments. We will be popping back when the centre is open to see what they have on offer.
I’m sure once the finishing touches are in place, it will be a very popular venue. The kids certainly did not want to leave!
Adventure Avenue role play centre in Burgess Hill is open every day from 9.30 to 5pm.
There are five 90 minute sessions; 9:30am – 11am, 11:30am – 1pm, 1:30pm – 3pm, 3:30pm – 5pm. These can be booked on the website here and have a maximum capacity of 70 people (adults or children).
Sessions currently cost £3 per person (adult or child; pre-walkers are free) during the week and £3.50 at the weekend. This obviously means if you have more than one child you’ll get a much better deal of it.
The closest parking to Adventure Avenue (on Church Walk) is in the Martlets shopping centre.
If you come out of the car park exit opposite New Look, turn right and it’s at the end of the road on your left. Parking currently costs £1.20 for two hours or £2 for three hours if you fancy going for lunch afterwards somewhere in Burgess Hill (there is a Wetherspoons just down the road…).
Note that you can’t stay in the play centre for longer than your allotted 90 minute slot as they need to tidy up for the next one!
Adventure Avenue is also available to hire as a party venue. If you are looking for somewhere to hold a children’s party in West Sussex then check them out!
I would personally say that it is perfect for preschool age (2 and up) but as it’s limited on numbers it would also be a good place for a slightly older child of 5 or 6 to try out during the usually very busy school holidays; a much more acceptable alternative to soft play!
Thanks to Adventure Avenue for letting us have a nose around; the kids loved it!
