This week we were sent the Craft Time Mosaics ‘My Pretty Jewellery Box’ by toy company Brainstorm Limited to review.
Now you’ll probably know I’m not exactly a huge fan of crafting. It’s messy and creates a lot of pointless stuff that I’m not allowed to throw away, but this looked quite light on the parental-input side as well as being something useful.
The big one loves to get dressed up in my old costume jewellery, and even enjoys making it herself, so I thought this would make a fab little end-of-term gift for her whilst also encouraging her to be a little bit tidier, maybe, perhaps.
The jewellery box is around 21cm wide x 15.5cm long (just slightly bigger than A5) and 11.5cm tall.
The kit comes with the box and 1400 glitter mosaic stickers, which you can peel off and stick within the squares of the box to make a butterfly pattern.
Here is what the jewellery box looked like before I set my daughter loose on it:
For a slightly older child (5+) this would probably keep them amused for hours but after about half an hour of pure concentration she asked me to help her and so we did it together for another half hour, and then bits at a time until it was done! It turns out it’s quite therapeutic.
And here is the result!
There were plenty of stickers so even when quite a few got stuck to everything but the box, we were able to complete the pattern.
The My Pretty Jewellery Box is a fantastic idea. It is a great thing to have in the cupboard for a rainy day and gives your child the opportunity to make something useful as well as decorative.
The kit retails at £12.99 and can be purchased on Amazon here or by clicking the link below.
We received the Craft Time Mosaics ‘My Pretty Jewellery Box’ for the purposes of this review but words are my own! You can follow Brainstorm Limited on Twitter here and on Facebook here.
