A family friendly festival: Big Day Out in Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent

A family friendly festival: Big Day Out in Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent 1st July 2017

On the 1st July, the small one turns two years old.

Two! It's crazy, isn't it? He's still a baby, I'm sure of it. How has it been a whole year since he turned one?

Nope, he's definitely two. And in all that time he's slept past 6am about twice. Ho hum.

To celebrate, we thought we'd go out for the day. As his birthday falls on a Saturday in summer, we thought we'd see what we could do in the name of a nice family day out, make some memories rather than buying loads of toys that we can't fit into the house.

We noticed that the Big Day Out in Mote Park, Maidstone, happens to be on the day of his birthday, and so the lovely organisers have said we can go along!

So what can we expect? Here's the lineup:

Big Day Out in Mote Park, Maidstone

OK so it's not much like the last festival I went to, where true to the stereotype I probably drank too much cider in a tent and didn't wash or sleep for three days, but that was a long time ago my friend. Things are different now. The days of moshpits are over and, as family-friendly events go, it looks like a cracker.

Now I have to admit, I don't know anyone on the first line. I'm told I should, and I'm sure it'll be great, but I don't. I'm too old, remember? I do know of Atomic Kitten, although of the Kerry Katona variety. But down on the third line? Bring it on. And I'm not talking Paw Patrol or fecking Bing. The star of the line up for me is, of course, every toddler-mum's favourite, Mr Bloom. I wonder if he'll have his talking veg?

I've already instructed daddy that he will be attending Bounce Land (come on, I've had two children. Mothers shouldn't bounce) and I'm quite excited that I might actually get to take the small one to circus school! I've said before I think he'll be a natural.

If you fancy going tickets are available from this link (affiliate link) and on the Big Day Out website.

We can't wait!
